Job Description

Project – the aim you’ll have

We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Administrator to support SharePoint Online within a Microsoft 365 environment. The role covers SharePoint admin centre activity, site administration, permissions, end-user technical support, troubleshooting, standard change delivery, documentation and user guidance.
The role sits in a financial services / investment management context, with a focus on operational control, auditability, least-privilege access and reliable service delivery.

Position – how you’ll contribute

Platform administration and service management

  • Administer SharePoint Online sites, libraries, lists, pages and related Microsoft 365 collaboration services.
  • Manage permissions, SharePoint groups, Microsoft 365 Groups, sharing and guest access, including investigation and resolution of access issues.
  • Provide technical support to end users, troubleshooting incidents and directing service requests through agreed service management processes.
  • Escalate and liaise with Senior SharePoint Administrators where issues require deeper technical input, approval or exception handling.
  • Perform routine monitoring, housekeeping and recovery support for SharePoint Online services using various admin tools; such as SharePoint Admin Center, Sharegate, PnP PowerShell and DeliverPoint.
  • Implement documented production changes in line with governance controls.
  • Governance, security and information management
  • Apply governance and security standards across permissions, sharing and ownership.
  • Review permission inheritance, oversharing, external sharing and site ownership issues, escalating exceptions where required.
  • Assist in planning and executing support and recovery operations.
  • Support metadata, taxonomy, retention, sensitivity, search and content lifecycle controls.
  • Work with technology, security and compliance teams to support organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Project support, user enablement and collaboration
  • Support site builds, migrations, restructures, hub or site association changes and handover to BAU.
  • Translate agreed requirements into practical SharePoint configuration using standard features.
  • Provide SharePoint training and guidance to users and site owners on permissions, sharing, content management and agreed standards.
  • Maintain FAQs, procedure notes and knowledge articles.
  • Support trainee administrator(s) through coaching and knowledge sharing.
  • Communicate clearly with technology, security, compliance, project and business teams.

Qualifications

Expectations – the experience you need

  • 3–5+ years’ relevant experience in a SharePoint Administrator, Microsoft 365 Administrator, Collaboration Platform Analyst or similar role.
  • Strong SharePoint Online administration skills across sites, libraries, lists, pages, metadata, permissions, sharing and ownership.
  • Practical understanding of Microsoft 365 Groups, Teams, OneDrive and Outlook, and how they interact with SharePoint Online.
  • Experience with ShareGate migrations, restructures, hub sites and communication sites.
  • Basic PowerShell capability for SharePoint Online administration, including PnP PowerShell or SharePoint Online Management Shell.
  • Comfortable with end-user technical support and troubleshooting SharePoint incidents, requests and access issues through structured processes.
  • Awareness of lifecycle, sensitivity classification, metadata and external sharing controls.
  • Strong documentation, communication and end-user training skills.
  • Methodical, proactive and service-focused approach.

Additional skills – the edge you have

  • Experience working in financial services, investment management or another regulated environment.
  • Broader experience with DeliverPoint, ShareGate, PnP PowerShell or SharePoint Online Management Shell.
  • Support-level understanding of Power Platform integration points with SharePoint, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Experience assessing Message Centre, Service Health or roadmap updates.
  • Familiarity with Purview, Entra ID, retention, sensitivity labels and guest access.
