This is a remote position.

Job Description


We are seeking a senior legal professional to serve as the Head of Legal with a specialization in employment law. This role is ideal for someone who also brings practical experience or a strong understanding of HR functions and workplace compliance. The successful candidate will advise on employment law matters, support internal teams and client organizations in minimizing risk, and help shape policies related to employee relations, contracts, and compliance in diverse jurisdictions. A background in supporting both legal and HR departments is highly desirable.



Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice on employment law matters including hiring, termination, disciplinary actions, workplace policies, and disputes.

  • Draft and review employment contracts, workplace policies, severance agreements, and contractor agreements.

  • Support internal and client-side HR and leadership teams with employment-related legal strategy, compliance, and risk mitigation.

  • Assist in resolving workplace disputes including harassment claims, employee grievances, and investigations.

  • Advise on global and regional employment law compliance, particularly in Australia or other common law jurisdictions.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory updates related to employment and provide timely recommendations.

  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., HR, Finance, Operations) and external legal counsel when necessary.




Requirements


  • Law degree and valid legal qualification in a common law jurisdiction.

  • 5+ years of experience practicing employment law; experience with multinational or remote teams preferred.

  • Background or strong working knowledge in HR practices, compliance, or advisory roles.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on employment law matters across jurisdictions.

  • Strong understanding of workplace regulations, contracts, and employee rights.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.

  • Exceptional legal drafting, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
