Job description

Understand the problem. Design the system. Build the bridge between customer reality and technical execution.

Spinwheel is on a mission to reinvent how consumers manage debt, make lending work for them, and move faster than anyone thinks possible. Our platform helps people save time, money, and stress by delivering the tools and intelligence needed to improve financial outcomes.

We're hiring a Senior Technical Product Manager to own the requirements that connect what our customers need and what our systems actually do. This isn't a role for someone who manages a backlog someone else owns. It's for someone who understands a problem well enough to define the solution, then writes the spec or builds the tool themselves.

What You'll Do
  • Engage directly with customers and internal stakeholders to understand workflows and pain points, then translate them into precise technical requirements, data models, API behaviors, and integration patterns that engineering can act on without ambiguity
  • Identify when a customer's stated request is a symptom of a deeper system problem, and define the right fix, not just the asked-for one
  • Run structured discovery on technical and integration-layer problems, and build a point of view on what's worth solving next that you're ready to defend with evidence
  • Build internal tools yourself, using AI-assisted development, no-code platforms, or lightweight scripting, to close operational gaps without waiting on engineering capacity
  • Own the requirement lifecycle from discovery through acceptance: you write it, you validate it, you sign off on it
  • Monitor product health and maintain the internal source of truth for how our products work, so engineering and clients aren't relying on tribal knowledge
What Success Looks Like
  • The requirements you write hold up: engineering rarely asks for clarification, and few need significant rework because the underlying problem was misread
  • Client-reported issues get correctly diagnosed as a product problem, a process problem, or a one-off, so engineering time only goes toward what's actually a system fix
  • Internal tools you've built are actually used, measurably reduce manual work, and come with documentation the team references without having to ask you directly
  • Your point of view on what's worth solving next shapes what gets prioritized, and proves right often enough that people seek it out before committing engineering time
You're a Fit If You
  • Have 5+ years in product management with real ownership of outcomes, not just outputs, including at least 2 years in product management in fintech (debt, payments, credit, or lending a strong plus)
  • Can read an API spec, understand a data model, and write a requirement that reflects both, without needing an engineer to translate for you
  • Have built something yourself, an internal tool, a script, an automated workflow, using AI assistance, no-code platforms, or lightweight code
  • Can write clearly enough that specs don't get misread, and speak the language of engineering well enough to work as a true partner
  • Are comfortable moving forward with incomplete information, and energized by figuring things out rather than waiting for a fully defined path
Nice to Have
  • Experience with credit data, consumer-permissioned financial data, or lending infrastructure
  • Familiarity with FCRA, SOC 2, or PCI compliance in a product context
  • Comfort with SQL, basic scripting, or workflow automation tools (Zapier, Make, etc.)
Details
  • Reports to: Head of Product
  • Location: Fully remote US or Canada
What We Offer

Competitive compensation and early-stage equity, so you have real upside as we grow. Comprehensive health benefits. A fully remote team, with the whole company coming together in person twice a year. We've hosted in places like Costa Rica, Chicago, San Diego, Mexico City, and Banff, real time together, not just another Zoom call.

We're early stage, so our benefits are still evolving. What we can offer today is a genuine stake in what we're building, a team that invests in being together in person, and the trust to do your best work from wherever you are.
