Summary Objective

The Lead Robotic Welding Programmer is responsible for programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimizing robotic arc welding systems across Stellar Energy manufacturing facilities. This position translates engineering blueprints, weld symbols, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) into automated robotic welding programs while supporting production, maintaining quality standards, improving manufacturing efficiency, and ensuring compliance with applicable AWS and industrial robotic safety standards. The role also supports automation expansion, new product rollouts, and robotic welding standardization across multiple manufacturing locations.

Essential Functions

Translate & Program

  • Convert detailed engineering blueprints, weld symbols, and manual torch techniques (e.g., puddle control, torch angles) into multi-axis robotic pathing, precise weave patterns, and adaptive logic conforming to established Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Working with the teach pendant and offline programming.

Multi-Site Control & Support

  • Standardize, author, test, and commission new robotic programs for product rollouts deployed across our fabrication campuses. Modify existing code rapidly to accommodate engineering revisions or fixture adjustments.

Production Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide immediate floor and remote troubleshooting for automated cell errors to maximize uptime. Analyze cycle-time and Quality data to drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives and eliminate production bottlenecks, to improve throughput.

Quality Control & AWS Compliance

  • Maintain robotic welding parameters (e.g., voltage, wire feed speed, travel speed) to prevent unapproved edits.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on weld defects to isolate programming drift from mechanical tooling or fixture wear.

Ensure Automation Safety

  • Lead task-based safety evaluations and program safety-rated automated functions (e.g., axis limiting, safe speed zones) per ANSI/A3 R15.06 and corporate safety policies.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
