Title - Salesforce Release Manager
Location - Mexico (remote)
Safeguard Global's Salesforce org is shared across three teams β SalesOps, Customer Ops, and Engineering IT. This role owns cross-team deployment coordination, sandbox strategy, or CI/CD pipeline administration end-to-end: not only running and enforcing the parts of the deployment governance model already in place, but establishing the workflows, protocols, and processes that are still being defined β including formal notification protocols, sandbox strategy, and the DevOps tooling program (evaluation, trial administration, and ongoing tool ownership across the DevOps tool like GearSet/Flossum).
This is a dual-function role: 50% release/deployment governance, 50% hands-on DevOps pipeline ownership. It is an individual-contributor position with cross-team authority delegated through the governance model.
Key Responsibilities
Release & Deployment Governance
- Own and run the cross-team deployment calendar spanning SalesOps, Service Cloud, and Engineering IT deploys
- Enforce the Salesforce Ownership Model's deployment protocols (notification requirements, sign-off gates on shared entity changes)
- Maintain and update the change logs for shared entity touching changes
- Serve as the point of escalation for deployment break-fix issues
- Own post-deployment validation and smoke testing coordination across teams
- Take ownership of in-flight governance workstreams as they mature, including finalizing the RACI/ownership model, formalizing the sandbox coordination policy, and standing up the Engineering IT deployment notification protocol from scratch (this protocol does not yet exist; it is a build, not an inherited process)
- Identify gaps in current governance protocols and design/propose new workflows to close them, rather than operating only within what already exists - bring recommendations to salesforce committee for sign-off
DevOps Pipeline Ownership
- Own the DevOps tool evaluation and trial process end-to-end β test use case design, structured trial feedback, seat/licensing analysis, and vendor comparison β and administer the selected tool going forward (Gearset or Flosum, pending trial outcome): environment comparisons, deployment sets, rollback configuration, user/seat management.
- Own CI/CD pipeline configuration and maintenance for Salesforce metadata deployments
- Design and execute the sandbox refresh strategy β including the full sandbox refresh approach not yet formalized β schedule and run partial/full sandbox refreshes, coordinate timing across teams to minimize integration disruption, and author and maintain the integration recovery runbook
- Maintain source-of-truth version control practices for Salesforce metadata (branching strategy, merge conflict resolution, deployment package management)
- Monitor deployment pipeline health and troubleshoot failed deploys across environments
Cross-Team Coordination
- Act as SalesOps's named coordination contact for cross-team deployment matters
- Partner with the Service Cloud & Engineering team's coordination contacts on Service Cloud deployment scheduling
- Support Service Cloud & Engineering β review process with SalesOps deployment status, ensure all members are informed and signed off before any deploy touching shared objects
- Coordinate with the Enablement and Training team ahead of every release affecting Sales applications, Salesforce, or related integrations β ensure training materials, release comms, and adoption support are ready before go-live
Reporting & Documentation
- Produce release notes and deployment summaries for stakeholders per the bi-monthly/major release cadence
- Track and report on deployment governance KPIs: notification compliance, rollback incidents, sandbox refresh cadence, cross-team deploy conflicts
- Feed structured tooling feedback into the ongoing DevOps tooling evaluation and any future advanced-tooling readiness assessment
- Own and maintain the Jira release structure (epics, tickets, linking convention) and all related release documentation across the three teams β ensure every deploy has a corresponding, correctly-tagged Jira record and linked Confluence documentation
- Maintain the SFDC Architecture Decision Record documentation and deployment-related Confluence pages
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years in a Release Manager, DevOps Engineer, or Salesforce Release Engineer role, with at least 2 years specifically in a Salesforce environment
- Hands-on experience with a Salesforce DevOps tool (Gearset, Flosum, Copado, or AutoRABIT)
- Working knowledge of Salesforce DX (SFDX), Git-based version control, and metadata deployment patterns
- Experience managing sandbox strategy (refresh scheduling, seed data, integration dependencies) in a multi-team Salesforce org
- Demonstrated experience coordinating deployments across teams that do not share a single reporting line β vendor/contractor coordination experience is a strong plus
- Track record of building governance processes and notification protocols from the ground up in an org without one, not only operating within an existing, mature framework
- Strong written communication skills; comfortable running structured notification and sign-off processes with non-technical stakeholders
- Experience administering Jira for release/change tracking (ticket structure, workflows, linking conventions) and maintaining Confluence or equivalent documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an org that migrated from single-team to multi-team Salesforce ownership
- Familiarity with Platform Events and integration architecture (useful for the Engineering IT coordination scope)
- Salesforce certifications (Administrator, Platform App Builder, or DevOps-focused certifications)
- Experience building or operating in a RACI/ownership-model governance structure
