Job Description:

Job Purpose:

The Associate Technician provides crucial technical assistance and problem-solving expertise to support BP Lubricants USA Inc. operations, focusing on product performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.

This role reports into the Expert Team Leader and covers technical support activities relating to specialty products, Industrial lubricants, greases and metal working fluids under the Castrol brand to aid business growth.

Key Accountabilities

  • Participate and assist in product development, technical service and deployment activities through conducting lab-based work, which may include sample administration, blending and testing, generating technical reports, ensuring the quality, standard and timeliness of the work carried out meets agreed expectations.
  • Assist the deployment of new products to execute a number of simple projects in support of regional product launches and customer trials.
  • Perform laboratory-based testing to support customer laboratory service requests and deliver used oil analysis reporting in an efficient manner.
  • Provide technical support to selected blend plants, assist with quality investigations and raw material disruption projects as resources are required.
  • Maintain equipment and inventory of accessories and take charge of equipment maintenance and calibration as equipment owner.
  • Capture and communicate best practice from local projects and share lessons learned from project delivery.
  • Manage incoming samples, in-progress samples and retained samples in a safe and compliant way.
  • Follow relative OMS and HSSE guidelines and policy in the lab.

Essential Criteria & Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a science; chemistry, engineering or related subject area required; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ Experience in lubricant development and technology commercialization and deployment is a plus
  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach to working
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal and communication skills and experience of working with diverse cultures
