Job description

About Labrynth

Labrynth accelerates progress by streamlining regulatory complexity. We build AI-powered platforms that navigate complex regulations, generate audit-level documentation, and provide certainty, not shortcuts. Our technology serves clients across heavily regulated industries including energy, compliance, and government regulations.

We operate as a forward-deployed engineering organization: small, high-velocity teams embedded directly with clients to rapidly discover needs and ship production-quality solutions.

About the Role

Product design has lived with the founders and the Head of Product so far. You'd be our first dedicated Product Designer: a senior generalist who can own the experience across our products today and grow into the company's design leader over the next 12 to 18 months. You'll set how Labrynth designs and builds, not inherit it.

This is a builder's seat, not a screen-production seat. If your favorite part of the job is standing up a working prototype and watching a real user move through it, you'll feel at home.

What You'll Do

  • Drive the experience for a vertical or platform surface end to end, from discovery through build-ready prototype, and tie your work to adoption, retention, and reusable patterns, not bespoke one-offs.

  • Frame ambiguous experience problems across a vertical (a new Authority Having Jurisdiction, a new rules domain). Decide what's worth solving, then set the design direction and interaction standards.

  • Build usable prototypes that de-risk the hardest flows before engineering invests, and hand off specs and components engineering can build from with minimal rework.

  • Hold the bar on accessibility and brand at the system level. WCAG 2.2 AA and our visual language are table stakes, not stretch goals.

  • Raise the craft: review others' work, coach as we hire, and help interview the next designers.

What We're Looking For

  • Senior-level product design scope: you've owned significant surfaces end to end and can show the outcomes, not just the screens.

  • You build: a track record of usable prototypes in code or AI tools (HTML/Tailwind/shadcn, Lovable, v0, Cursor), and specs or components engineers built from.

  • Design-systems depth: tokens, components, patterns; ideally design-system-as-code.

  • You think in components and work hand-in-hand with front-end engineers: comfortable in a component-driven stack (shadcn/Radix/Tailwind) and pairing on the build, not throwing designs over the wall.

  • Experienced in conducting remote User Research sessions and translating behaviors into delightful experiences

  • Comfort with complex, dense, regulated or enterprise B2B workflows and genuine ambiguity.

  • Discovery and usability testing as a habit. Evidence over opinion.

  • Accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) and strong brand and visual fluency.

  • AI-native fluency and the instinct to orchestrate AI tooling, not avoid it.

  • Excellent written and spoken communication; you can frame a problem and a direction for a room.

Nice to Have

  • Regulatory, govtech, legal, insurance, or compliance domain experience.

  • Forward-deployed, embedded, or customer-facing design experience.

  • Hands-on React and Tailwind, enough to push components and prototypes toward production.

  • Motion and interaction design.

  • Comfort collaborating across US and Australia time zones.

What We Offer

  • High-impact work at the intersection of AI and critical infrastructure regulation

  • Direct customer exposure and a seat at the table when we decide what to build

  • Small team with outsized influence; your field learning shapes the product roadmap

  • Remote-first

  • Competitive compensation

Values We Hire For

  • Character: integrity and trustworthiness above all

  • Competency: evoking trust and reliably delivering

  • Togetherness: family-level support and alignment

  • Impact: meaningful outcomes over activity

  • Commitment: ownership and follow-through
