Location: Government Site, Norfolk VA

Position Overview
Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking an experienced Database Administrator/Application Developer to support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise web applications and Microsoft SQL Server database environments for a mission-critical U.S. Navy program.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer with extensive experience in C#, .NET Framework, Microsoft SQL Server, and Azure DevOps who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while supporting systems that have a direct operational impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications and enterprise tools using C# and the .NET Framework.
  • Maintain and enhance the mission-critical dashboard that provides real-time connection status and operational visibility, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Design, develop, modify, test, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases and application code.
  • Develop software enhancements and implement application upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production application and database issues.
  • Optimize SQL Server performance through query tuning, indexing, stored procedures, and database optimization techniques.
  • Support data extraction, integration, analysis, and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain software configuration management, change documentation, validation records, and version control.
  • Support enterprise account management tools, hosted websites, and related enterprise applications.
  • Utilize Azure DevOps, Git, or Team Foundation Version Control (TFVC) for source code management and CI/CD build and release pipelines.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders, project teams, and technical staff to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience developing and maintaining web applications using C# and the .NET Framework.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience developing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server databases and database-driven applications.
  • Experience developing software upgrades, enhancements, and application improvements.
  • Experience modifying, testing, and deploying application and database code.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills supporting production applications and database environments.
  • Experience optimizing SQL Server performance, including query tuning and database performance analysis.
  • Experience supporting data extraction, integration, reporting, and analytical requirements.
  • Experience maintaining software configuration control, change management documentation, and validation records.
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps.
  • Experience using Git and/or Team Foundation Version Control (TFVC).
  • Experience creating or supporting automated build and release pipelines.
  • Experience supporting enterprise account management tools, hosted websites, and related enterprise applications.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance (or higher).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy, DoD, or other Federal Government customers.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD best practices.
  • Familiarity with enterprise web hosting, IIS, and Microsoft server technologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Salary range $90,000 to $120,000 annually
