POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Systems Analyst I accelerates performance by translating operational needs into scalable system solutions across Empower’s enterprise application portfolio. This role owns requirements, configuration, testing, reporting, documentation, and issue resolution activities, escalating complexity while expanding judgment. AI serves as a force multiplier to increase analysis speed, broaden testing scale, improve documentation quality, surface insights, and strengthen decision-making without compromising controls. Operating within Empower’s hyper-growth, highly regulated 503A/503B environment, the analyst protects continuity, data integrity, compliance, and user adoption as platforms evolve. Success requires strategic thinking beyond assigned tasks, disciplined execution, exceptional attention to detail, and learning agility to master new applications, processes, regulations, and AI-enabled methods. The role partners with business stakeholders, senior analysts, IT, and vendors to deliver improvements quickly, responsibly, and consistently across functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Analysis

  • Requirements Discovery: Partner with stakeholders to clarify business problems, workflows, controls, and desired outcomes; document complete, testable requirements and trace them through delivery. Use approved AI tools to summarize interviews, identify gaps, compare process variants, and accelerate analysis while independently validating outputs, protecting sensitive information, and ensuring fully complete requirements reflect Empower’s regulated 503A/503B operations, growth priorities, patient impact, financial discipline, and practical system constraints across all enterprise platforms and functional teams.
  • Process Mapping: Create current-state and future-state process maps that expose handoffs, decision points, data dependencies, compliance risks, and automation opportunities. Apply AI-assisted pattern recognition to analyze recurring friction, synthesize stakeholder input, and generate draft workflows, then verify accuracy with process owners. Recommend focused improvements that increase speed, quality, scalability, and control effectiveness while remaining realistic for Empower’s rapidly evolving core ERP, finance, supply chain, pharmacy management, customer-facing, and internal business systems portfolio.
  • Solution Alignment: Translate approved requirements into clear functional specifications, configuration decisions, reporting needs, and straightforward integration expectations under senior guidance. Evaluate options against business value, user experience, data integrity, regulatory obligations, and supportability. Use AI to compare alternatives, highlight dependencies, and improve decision documentation, while applying disciplined judgment to prevent unsupported assumptions. Maintain ownership of assigned scope from intake through validation, ensuring solutions align with Empower’s architecture, priorities, and rapid operating cadence.

Systems Delivery

  • Configuration Support: Configure assigned application features, roles, workflows, reference data, and business rules according to approved requirements and established procedures. Use AI-enabled checklists and comparison methods to increase speed and consistency, while verifying every change through controlled review. Maintain accurate configuration records, respect segregation-of-duties and access requirements, and closely coordinate with experienced senior analysts and IT to ensure changes are scalable, traceable, supportable, and appropriate for Empower’s highly regulated compounding pharmacy environment.
  • Testing Excellence: Design and execute functional, regression, patch, upgrade, and user acceptance test scenarios for assigned changes, documenting evidence and defects with precision. Leverage AI to expand scenario coverage, generate edge cases, organize results, and identify patterns, but independently confirm expected outcomes and compliance relevance. Drive defects to clear resolution or escalation, protect stability and verify that delivered functionality supports business intent, data accuracy, operational continuity, and controlled deployment across affected platforms.
  • Release Readiness: Support change management and release activities by preparing impact assessments, implementation steps, validation evidence, communications, training content, and rollback considerations. Use AI to accelerate draft materials, audience tailoring and risk summaries while maintaining human review and controls. Coordinate dependencies with business, IT, quality, and vendor partners; confirm readiness criteria; and monitor early adoption after release. Escalate emerging risks quickly to minimize disruption and sustain reliable operations during Empower’s rapid growth.

Operational Partnership

  • Issue Resolution: Investigate assigned incidents and service requests by reproducing problems, reviewing logs and data, isolating likely causes, and documenting findings before escalation. Apply AI-assisted search, pattern analysis, and knowledge retrieval to shorten diagnosis time, while safeguarding confidential data and validating recommendations. Communicate status clearly, prioritize patient, compliance, financial, and operational impact, and help restore service quickly. Convert recurring into documented knowledge, preventive controls, test cases, or improvement opportunities for future releases.
  • Data Reporting: Develop and validate assigned reports, queries, reconciliations, and operational metrics that enable timely, accurate decisions. Use SQL or approved reporting tools, supported by AI for query drafting, anomaly detection, and explanation generation, while independently checking logic, source lineage, completeness, and access controls. Partner with stakeholders to define meaningful measures and resolve discrepancies. Deliver transparent documentation so users understand definitions, limitations, and actions across Empower’s regulated, fast-scaling business environment and systems.
  • Knowledge Enablement: Maintain clear requirements, configuration records, test evidence, process documentation, support articles, and training materials for assigned applications. Use AI to improve drafting speed, consistency, readability, and audience-specific guidance, then verify content against actual system behavior and current controls. Support end-user training and adoption, invite feedback, and update materials as processes evolve. Build deep functional knowledge through deliberate learning, cross-functional collaboration, and post-implementation reflection, earning broader ownership and independent decision-making responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Foundational business analysis capability, including requirements elicitation, process mapping, functional documentation, testing, change support, and disciplined follow-through across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise applications, data flows, integrations, reporting concepts, and SQL or comparable querying tools; able to learn unfamiliar platforms quickly.
  • Practical AI fluency for analysis, documentation, testing, knowledge retrieval, and decision support, with strong validation habits, privacy awareness, and responsible-use judgment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail, structured problem solving, adaptability, customer focus, and accountability in a fast-paced regulated environment.
