Job description

Finding the right place to grow your career isn’t (over) easy, so we’re here to help by sharing a few reasons why the grass is greener at Vital Farms. We think you’ll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

At Vital Farms, we’re proud of the diverse communities we serve and the stakeholders who help bring our purpose to life. We’re committed to fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment where every crew member feels valued. We see this as one of our greatest strengths - and your role is key to helping us build on it.

Your Role:

This position reports to the Senior Director, Egg Insights and Enablement.

You like to fix things that are broken, build things that don’t exist yet, and make complicated things feel easy. In this role, you'll lead the teams and systems that support our network of approximately 600 family farmers, creating a frictionless experience through clear communication, responsive support, and efficient processes. You'll build scalable workflows, automate manual work where possible, and lead teams across Lay Farm Process & Engagement, Pullet Farm Process & Engagement, and Contract Administration & Systems to ensure farmers get the support they need—quickly and simply.

What You'll Do:

You will own and create frictionless, end-to-end business processes for farmers and Vital Farms, while leading the team that brings these processes to life.

Create and Refine Automation & Business Services

  • Build shared services that take repetitive and administrative work off the field teams’ plates, such as centralized data entry for Farm Support, pullet communications to lay farmers, and answers to common questions like pay.
  • Refine and automate existing processes to make them work more seamlessly (e.g., communications) so capacity is freed up for higher-value work.

Build a Farmer-Facing Support Center

  • Stand up a single “front door” for farmers — one team/channel that consolidates inbound farmer questions and requests.
  • Create clear routing, service-level expectations, and a shared knowledge base that makes it easy for farmers and internal teams to get answers.

Lead the team that brings this to life

  • Lead lay farm process and engagement, pullet farm process and engagement, and contract administration and systems.
  • Build the operating model, expectations, and accountability needed for the team to deliver consistently.
  • Create systems to regularly monitor data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead projects/initiatives in support of the farm operations team.
  • Lead, develop, and support a high-performing team, ensuring team members have the tools, training, and clarity needed to succeed.
  • Build a culture of ownership, trust, and continuous improvement that enables the team to deliver exceptional service to farmers and internal stakeholders.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, Agribusiness, Information Systems, or a related technical field strongly preferred.
  • You have 8+ years of relevant experience, such as operations, shared services, or business process leadership, running functions that serve a customer — internal or external — at scale, with several of those years leading a team.
  • You turn manual, inefficient work into scalable systems through process design, automation, service standards, knowledge management, and contract administration.
  • You’re close to the workIdeally this role sits within driving distance of Springfield, MO or Seymour, IN.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for company events, team meetings and other business needs.
  • You’ve built, not just run. You have stood up a new function, team, or set of services — and you can point to what existed before you showed up versus after.
  • Bonus points for agriculture, farming, or food-supply chain experience.
  • Bonus points if you’ve stood up a customer- or supplier-facing support/service center before.
  • You’re a strong team leader — you lead with empathy, get excited about building new things, and always ask to see the numbers.
  • You get excited about the chance to simplify, streamline, and make things better — you seek to understand, then dive in fast, and you’re not afraid of ambiguity.
  • You lead with high support, accountability, and empowerment: you create the foundation for a team to thrive, empower them to own the work, and take a trust-and-verify approach.
  • You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.
  • We recognize that talent comes in many forms. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. You may have strengths we haven’t yet considered!

What We Bring to the Table:

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
  • Competitive pay and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Parental Leave, just to name a few).
  • Generous retirement contributions: 401(k) + 3% Contribution from Day 1.
  • Free eggs, along with friends and family discounts.
  • Fun team SWAG that will make you the talk of the town.
  • Professional development opportunities and an amazing team dedicated to your growth.

At Vital Farms, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to, skill level, experience, education, training, market demands, and business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current starting annual base salary for this position is $195,000 - $205,000. Please keep in mind that hiring at the maximum end of the range would not be typical in order to allow for potential continued future salary growth.
