Description

The Quality Auditor is responsible for completing inspections related to evaluations, certifications, or listings, including qualifying, surveillance, and sampling inspections conducted on-site, in-plant, or remotely. The Quality Auditor supports the company’s mission and goals by performing audits and product sampling to ensure compliance with internal, external, and program requirements.

  

Essential Functions:

  • Perform regularly scheduled qualifying, surveillance, and sampling inspections, both on-site, in-plant, or remotely, as assigned by the department.
  • Establish and maintain excellent customer relationships to ensure ICC-ES is respected as a partner.
  • Ensure all applicable company and department procedures are consistently followed in the execution of inspection jobs.
  • Continually monitor each client’s implementation of approved quality systems and ensure compliance with stated requirements, including review of incoming materials, material specifications, ongoing or quality control testing requirements stated in the quality manual, and final inspection and labeling of product.
  • Continually evaluate and communicate the status of each client’s quality system to ICC-ES or the agency assigning the inspection.
  • Assist in scheduling factory audits and product sampling throughout the year to support efficient operation.
  • Ensure economical travel by planning in advance and communicating challenges to the manager, supervisor, or coordinator when needed.
  • Review and monitor travel expenses to ensure they meet company objectives; contact the manager with questions or cost-saving recommendations.
  • Ensure the assigned average number of unique audits or sampling events is met, as assigned by the Director of ICC-ES Inspections. The minimum goal is five unique auditor trips per week, or eight if fully virtual, unless otherwise stated.
  • Discuss scheduling concerns with the manager if assigned scheduling does not meet department requirements.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special assignments as directed by the Director of ICC-ES Inspections.

Secondary Functions:

  • Continually identify and pursue opportunities for process improvement and promote continuous improvement within the department.
  • Promote effective communication throughout the organization and recommend actions that enhance communication among employees.
  • Contribute ongoing insights and ideas for resolving repetitive field issues by maintaining consistent communication with department managers.
  • Recommend improvements to systems, policies, and procedures for the Inspections Department.
Requirements

  

Essential Skills and Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess, or show the ability to quickly acquire, a sound working knowledge of products and quality standards.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Experience working in building construction, manufacturing, or performing quality assurance audits preferred.
  • Demonstrated exceptional written and oral communication skills preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based programs preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of materials, tools, and methods used in construction preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with both technical and non-technical personnel preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with staff at all organizational levels preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer or desk 
  • Occasional standing, walking, and reaching to access files or office supplies 
  • Manual dexterity for typing, filing, and handling office equipment 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, documents) 
  • Visual acuity to read printed and digital materials 
  • Auditory ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone 
  • May need to climb stairs in multi-level office building
