RCM Billing Specialist 

Location: Fully Remote

Employment Type: Full-Time, W-2 Employee, Non-Exempt

Compensation: $55,000 annually + 10% bonus eligible; paid bi-weekly

Schedule/Hours: Monday-Friday (8 hours a day)

Reports To: RCM Manager


Job Summary:

RCM Billing Specialist will provide Revenue Cycle support in the day-to-day maintenance and operation for Revenue Cycle management and assist in the planning and implementation for Revenue Cycle enhancements and build outs as we continue our journey. This is a pivotal role within our healthcare organization, responsible for managing the complex landscape of medical billing and revenue cycle management. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of claims, invoices, and payments, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.


RCM Billing Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Assist in oversight to ensure accurate insurance claims, patient invoices, and billing statements.
  • Assist in ensuring proper coding of medical procedures, diagnoses, and services in accordance with industry standards.
  • Monitor the status of insurance claims, identify, and resolve issues, and resubmit claims when necessary.
  • Record payments, reconcile accounts, and assist with processing patient payments.
  • Prepare and maintain financial reports, including accounts receivable, collections, and claims status reports.
  • Maintain organized and complete billing records, authorizations, and correspondence in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with healthcare billing regulations, coding standards, and ensure compliance with industry guidelines.
  • Assist patients with billing inquiries, explain charges, and provide support with financial arrangements.
  • Work closely with the Billing Manager and other staff to support the organization's financial operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

RCM Billing Specialist Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Post-secondary education or certification in healthcare billing, medical coding, or a related field is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Revenue Cycle process from pre-registration through account resolution.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare billing, medical coding, or a related, required.
  • Proficiency in using medical billing software and a strong understanding of billing practices and industry standards preferred.
  • Ability to work independently; excellent follow-through, multitasking and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; interact positively and constructively with staff, clients, community and representatives.
  • Self-motivated with a positive and exceptional work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; similar accounting software programs a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to abide by ethical guidelines and policies, including strict adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.

This is a non-clinical position.
