Job description

The Commercial Accountant is a blended financial and management accounting role, combining strong financial control with venue-level budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis and operational business partnering. The role also supports month-end close, lease accounting, insurance administration and banking relationships. It is a hands-on position suited to a commercially minded qualified accountant who enjoys turning financial data into practical insight in a fast-paced, high-growth, multi-site environment.

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial processes across all group entities, including balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger management.
  • Maintain accruals, prepayments, journal entries, and the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and standardised finance workflows.
  • Manage end-to-end AASB 16 lease accounting, including lease registers, right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, and accounting for new, modified, and terminated leases.
  • Partner with leasing and property teams to ensure the accurate accounting treatment of new venues, renewals, and lease variations.
  • Own venue budgeting, forecasting, reforecasting, and scenario analysis, working closely with operational leaders to develop performance targets and commercial assumptions.
  • Act as a finance business partner to venue and operations teams, leading P&L reviews and providing insights into revenue, labour, cost drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Manage and report on venue and group performance, delivering meaningful analysis to support decision-making and business growth.
  • Oversee the group's insurance program, including renewals, broker relationships, compliance requirements, and claims management.
  • Manage bank guarantees, banking relationships, and POS/payment provider relationships, ensuring accurate settlement and reconciliation processes.
  • Deliver month-end close activities and contribute to management, board, and investor reporting, including performance commentary and financial insights.
  • Support annual audits, sustainability reporting, and the maintenance of effective internal controls, financial policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Prepare ad hoc commercial and financial analysis and contribute to the ongoing improvement of systems, reporting, dashboards, and processes across the group.
