Job description

Logos is a movement supporting the development of the decentralised web. Logos technologies lay the foundations for a freer internet upon which communities can evolve into network states. Each protocol in the Logos stack seeks to empower its users while upholding civil liberties and fundamental freedoms.

The role:

Logos is a movement to rebuild civil society through  self-organised civic action, and a technology stack to enable new ways of organising. We believe that current systems are failing us, and institutions need to be re-built from the ground up.

Within Logos, the Movement team supports a growing community of local activist organisations called Circles. These groups are active in cities around the world working on issues that impact their community: from organising pop-up health clinics and teaching financial literacy, to creating community gardens and building tech for civic fundraising. We provide training, 1:1 support, tools, and technology to Circles - helping them scale their impact and evolve into a network of mutual aid: with the long-term goal of creating a global Parallel Society: a group of people and organisations united by shared values that organise into a new extra-governmental sovereign economy.

We are hiring a Regional Circles Lead to support the existing program as it scales and to provide administrative and organisational support to our team and local Circle Stewards. The ideal location is Lisbon, Portugal, although, the movement team are open to other locations also. We look forward to hearing from you!

Key responsibilities:

  • Support Logos Circles by assisting volunteer community organisers in scoping and completing “winnable issues” (community impact projects) to better self-select and execute activities at the local level, while maintaining continued and cohesive growth.
  • Guide and mentor new local Circle Stewards using the formats provided by IFT.
  • Manage documentation, briefs and reporting to make sure IFT has readily available content to assist Logos Collective Association to promote Circle narratives, outputs and wins.
  • Aggregate regional reporting and metrics to improve visibility and facilitate coordination across Circles and the broader Logos network.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Logos and Circle stewards, helping to facilitate any logistics or support provided by Logos, such as shared campaign assets, resources and general advice.
  • Attend local events to promote Logos Circles, build community visibility, and connect interested participants with local Logos Circles.
  • Produce standardised and regular reports for regional output and progress.
  • The ideal candidate will be based in the greater Lisbon (Portugal) area and able to take over management of the local Lisbon Circle and it’s ongoing civic action activities.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience doing civic good community organising on a voluntary or paid basis.
  • A basic understanding of privacy, non-governmental civic organising and it’s implications on civil life, alongside the implications of technology on these issues (decentralised technology and otherwise)
  • An excitement to learn about blockchain, crypto, and decentralised technology, and it’s political and civic implications.
  • Experience managing projects and excellent organisational skills
  • A strong alignment to our principles: https://logos.co/manifesto/

Bonus points:

  • Membership in a civic organisation such as Kiwanis International, University volunteer organisations, community gardens, grassroots organisations, etc.
  • Experience working for an open source organisation.

Hiring process:

  1. Initial conversation with People Operations
  2. Conversation with Kirsten & Amelia from the Movement Team
  3. Submission of Proposal + subsequent training

Compensation:

This is a part time role, equating to approximately 20hrs per week. We're happy to pay in any mix of fiat/crypto.
