Ciena’s Business Financial Data Junior Modeler role contributes to the company’s digital transformation by enabling business planning and financial insight through Anaplan. This position partners with global stakeholders to translate business processes into scalable models that support decision-making and integrated planning. The role plays a key part in connecting data, processes, and business requirements across functional teams.
 

How you will make an impact:

  • Design and document Anaplan models, including process maps, user guides, and solution design documentation.

  • Translate business requirements, Excel models, and user stories into scalable Anaplan solutions using appropriate dimensions, hierarchies, and line items.

  • Build Hub-Spoke and ALM model structures and develop user experience pages using the New UX (NUX).

  • Identify and define data requirements with subject matter experts to enable new and enhanced planning capabilities.

  • Collaborate with business architects, solution architects, Anaplan team members, and functional stakeholders to align solution design with business needs.

  • Develop test cases and execute activities related to user acceptance testing and functional validation.

  • Apply Ciena and Anaplan model-building best practices while managing stakeholders across multiple business functions.
     

The must haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

  • 1+ years of experience working with data as a data analyst or business analyst.

  • 1+ years of experience working with databases.

  • 2+ years of Anaplan modeling experience or completion of 3 end-to-end Anaplan implementations.

  • 2+ years of experience working with Excel.

  • Certifications: Anaplan Level 3 certification or above.

  • Experience in forecasting processes and business functions, including Sales, Operations, and Finance; application of critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, stakeholder management, collaboration, attention to detail, and Agile methodologies.
     

Nice to haves:

  • Demonstrated initiative while working with limited direction and aggressive deadlines.

  • Ability to make decisions and manage competing and changing priorities.

  • Application of communication techniques that align messaging with audience needs.

  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ability to build trusted working relationships across multiple locations.

  • Interest in innovation, market developments, and problem-solving.

  • Interest in coaching and mentorship.
