Role Overview:

The Senior Field Trainer - Waterworks serves as a lead within the Field Training organization, responsible for driving performance, shaping capability development, and elevating the overall effectiveness of the training function.

This role extends beyond facilitation—Senior Field Trainers lead by example, mentor peers, advise and influence strategic learning and development projects, and drive business outcomes through deep partnerships with field leadership and active contribution to enterprise learning initiatives. They operate as trusted advisors to senior stakeholders, ensuring training is aligned to strategic priorities and executed with consistency and impact.

Location:

  • This role supports leaders and associates in the Waterworks Customer Group and requires (on average) 25-50% travel for in-person trainings, meetings or special projects.
  • The role is approved for hybrid work across the United States or out of Ferguson's corporate offices in Newport News, VA, according to company policy.
  • Tampa, FL area preferred.

Responsibilities:

Lead Performance through Influence & Facilitation

  • Lead high-impact training that drives measurable performance and behavior change
  • Model best-in-class facilitation
  • Adapt delivery to engage experienced audiences and reinforce priorities

Mentor & Develop the Field Training Team

  • Lead and mentor Field Trainers to elevate team capability
  • Coach newer trainers to accelerate development and effectiveness
  • Reinforce consistency through feedback, guidance, and example

Cultivate Strategic Field Partnerships

  • Build consultative relationships with GMs, RVPs, and HRBPs
  • Identify performance gaps and align training to business needs
  • Influence leaders to prioritize development that drives long-term results

Drive Enterprise Training Initiatives

  • Lead and support high-profile Academy programs, both in the field and at headquarters, ensuring strong execution and alignment
  • Represent Business Learning in key enterprise initiatives
  • Ensure consistent rollout and adoption across regions

Shape & Enhance Training Strategy

  • Partner with Academy schools and functional leaders to design and refine high-impact training programs
  • Apply field insight to ensure relevance and practical application
  • Identify and drive improvements in training delivery and outcomes
  • Proactively deliver development solutions aligned to business needs

Deliver Consistent, Scalable Learning Solutions

  • Implement training with consistency across teams and regions
  • Reinforce enterprise initiatives through repeatable learning experiences
  • Support onboarding to accelerate readiness and performance

  • Senior Field Trainers operate at a higher level through active mentorship and leadership
  • Strong, trust-based relationships with senior field leaders
  • Training is aligned to strategy and drives measurable impact
  • Enterprise initiatives are delivered with consistency, credibility, and strong field adoption

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Subject matter expertise in Waterworks is required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience (ideally in a field support, sales, or business leadership role)
  • Certifications in learning & development (i.e. ATD, CPTD) are a plus
  • Significant intuition for business and experience (preferably in a field leadership role) required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and develop others in a field-based environment
  • Advanced facilitation skills with the ability to engage senior and experienced audiences
  • Strong consultative approach with experience partnering with business leaders on performance solutions
  • Ability to connect training initiatives to strategic business outcomes
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and modern training methodologies
  • Experience mentoring or developing other trainers preferred

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$6,858.34 - $10,975.00

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
