Job description

People & Places Program Manager

Palo Alto Hybrid (Preferred) or West Coast Remote

Reporting directly to the Chief People & Places Officer (CPPO), the People & Places Program Manager sits at the intersection of strategic initiative management and day-to-day operational support — enabling the CPPO and the broader People & Places leadership team to move faster and with greater impact.

You'll own the program management of special initiatives tied to our longer-term people strategy, support ad hoc projects across the function, and serve as a trusted operational partner to the CPPO through calendar management, travel coordination, and expense reporting.

Working at this level of the People & Places function means you'll see how strategic decisions get made, how priorities shift in real time, and what it takes to build and sustain a high-performing organization. It's a meaningful opportunity for someone in their career who is curious, proactive, and ready to contribute from day one.

What you will do:

  • Lead end-to-end program management for strategic people initiatives, including planning, tracking milestones, managing stakeholders, and surfacing risks.
  • Partner directly with the People & Places leadership team to keep cross-functional projects aligned and on schedule.
  • Develop clear project documentation — charters, status updates, decision logs, and retrospectives — that keep stakeholders informed and accountable.
  • Support the CPPO in preparing materials for leadership reviews, board updates, and all-hands sessions.
  • Manage the CPPO's calendar with a high degree of judgment — prioritizing, scheduling, and protecting time for strategic work.
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel, including itinerary planning, logistics, and contingency management.
  • Process and reconcile expense reports accurately and on time.
  • Anticipate needs, prepare briefing materials, and handle follow-up so the CPPO can stay focused on what matters most.
  • Take on discrete projects as they arise — from research and benchmarking to process design and communications — with a bias toward action and strong follow-through.
  • Build trusted relationships across the People & Places team and with cross-functional partners including Finance, Legal, and IT.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management, project management, or a structured coordination role.
  • Proficiency across Microsoft 365 — including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook — with the ability to build polished, executive-ready materials.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities without losing quality or composure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; you write clearly and know how to tailor a message to the audience.
  • Discretion and good judgment — you'll be trusted with confidential information and will handle it accordingly.

Preferred

  • Experience using Claude or other AI tools in a professional setting to accelerate research, drafting, or analysis.
  • Exposure to HR, People Operations, or a related function.
  • Experience supporting a senior executive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana, Jira, or equivalent platforms.
