Job description

Serv, a global executive recruitment partner, is hiring on behalf of our client Take Profit Trader for a VP of Trading Risk.

Join the Team:

Take Profit Trader is a high-growth proprietary trading firm handling hundreds of millions of dollars in trading volume. Dedicated to innovation, operational excellence, and empowering traders globally, they are hiring a VP of Trading Risk to lead and scale the company's risk function.

This is a leadership role responsible for institutionalizing the firm's risk function, anticipating new exploit strategies before they emerge, and providing commercially sharp risk leadership. As the company continues to scale its brokerage business, this role will expand into ownership of live trading risk while building and leading a growing team.

Position Responsibilities:

If you are someone who thrives at the intersection of trading expertise, strategic risk management, and leadership, this is an opportunity to build one of the highest-impact functions in the organization.

What You’ll Do:

Trade Surveillance

  • Own trade surveillance end to end
  • Anticipate exploits that break no existing rule before they appear in the data
  • Build new detection logic and policies that become tomorrow's enforcement standards
  • Calibrate enforcement based on actual financial impact
  • Partner with external vendors to evolve and customize detection technology
  • Set standards for enforcement documentation that withstand disputes and scale effectively

Risk Strategy & Enforcement

  • Own the firm's overall risk posture and enforcement strategy
  • Exercise authority to block risk-relevant initiatives before launch
  • Translate data signals into enforceable policies with clear criteria and escalation paths
  • Measure enforcement programs based on financial outcomes rather than rule counts

Live Trading & Brokerage Risk

  • Own risk management for live trading accounts as brokerage operations expand
  • Work with external partners and vendor RMS technology to continuously improve trading risk management
  • Bridge simulated trading enforcement with live trading risk as the business evolves

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the Senior Risk Analyst and the broader surveillance team
  • Build the organizational structure required to scale the firm's risk function
  • Partner closely with the Head of Payments and Identity to share critical fraud and identity signals
  • Report directly to the CEO with concise, decision-driving updates

Required Experience & Skills

  • Professional futures or derivatives trading experience with deep understanding of trading behavior
  • Experience leading risk for traders in futures, derivatives, or other high-velocity markets
  • Ability to distinguish aggressive but legitimate trading from exploitative behavior
  • Brokerage, OMS, or RMS platform experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience building, not simply operating, a detection, trust and safety, or risk function within an adversarial environment
  • Strong understanding of precision versus recall tradeoffs tied to business performance
  • Experience leading and developing analysts and building high-performing teams
  • Proven authority to stop launches or initiatives based on risk concerns
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration with data-sharing across partner teams
  • CRMP or FRM certifications preferred
  • Series 3 license is a plus but not required
