Job description

The Creative Director will be an equal parts maker and strategist. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be designing banners and emails one hour, and presenting a brand campaign or partnership concept the next. You'll manage a designer and outside partners, plus work closely with a creative copywriter to bring ideas to life across every channel we touch.

This role sits at the intersection of brand, performance, and product. You'll think big, balance high creative output with strong brand stewardship.

Reporting to the VP, Head of Creative, you will work cross-functionally across acquisition marketing, member marketing, ecommerce, retail (online and in-store), and social media.

Responsibilities

Creative Execution

  • Support creative strategy and execution across acquisition, member marketing, social, product, ecommerce, and brand while ensuring cohesive, on-brand storytelling at every touchpoint.
  • Support ecommerce creative, including Amazon, DTC, and retail channels, with a focus on consistency.
  • Partner closely with a creative copywriter and designer to develop integrated concepts and campaigns.
  • Own day-to-day brand management, including the development and maintenance of brand guidelines and design systems.
  • Drive partnership and collaboration creative, from initial concepts through final execution.
  • Build and oversee performance marketing creative across paid media, email, SMS, affiliate, and social - balancing brand integrity with conversion goals.
  • Develop and maintain a high-volume creative cadence across all channels: product launches, new colors, promotions, experiments, and more.
  • Review and provide direction on scripts, articles, video content, and influencer and third-party creative.
  • Guide and review work from external agencies, freelancers, and content creators, maintaining brand consistency across all partners.

Strategy & Leadership

  • Strong understanding of brand strategy and the ability to translate it into cohesive, visually impactful work.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor designers while remaining actively involved in the creative work.
  • Strategic thinker who can connect creative decisions to business goals and clearly articulate the "why" behind creative choices.
  • Ability to present and sell creative ideas confidently to stakeholders at all levels.

Tools & Technology

  • Hands-on design skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Notion, or similar).
  • Leverage AI tools, including Claude and generative design tools, to scale content production and streamline workflows without sacrificing quality.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing formats across paid media, email, social, ecommerce, and video.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of creative experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead creative role.
  • A strong portfolio spanning brand, performance, and product creative using a digital-first focus, with retail and ecommerce experience a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with copywriters and cross-functional partners (acquisition, product, ecomm, marketing).
  • Comfortable balancing high creative volume and fast turnaround with strong brand governance.
  • Strong collaborator with experience mentoring junior designers, with the ability to work effectively individually, in a team environment, and across different levels of the organization.
  • Experience in DTC, consumer products, or pet/lifestyle brands is a strong plus.

Nice to have

  • Experience with influencer or UGC creative direction.
  • Familiarity with Amazon creative requirements and best practices.
  • Background in or exposure to TV/video production.
  • Experience building or maintaining brand systems and design documentation.
