Job description

Candescent is a forward-thinking technology company transforming how financial institutions deliver Intelligent Banking experiences. We unite digital banking, account opening, and branch solutions that power and connect digital banking, account opening, and branch solutions—creating seamless engagement across digital, remote, and in-person channels.

Our Experience-Led, Intelligence-Driven approach combines human-centered design with data, automation, and cloud-based innovation. Built on an API-first architecture, our extensible ecosystem enables institutions to adapt quickly, integrate easily, and unlock new opportunities for growth—turning every customer interaction into a moment of clarity, confidence, and connection.

Candescent is seeking a hands-on Communications Manager to support media relations, public relations programs, and employee communications. This role is responsible for keeping Candescent’s day-to-day communications clear, consistent, and on time.

The Communications Manager will partner closely with the Director, Content & PR on media relations support, helping bring PR into broader campaigns and cross-functional moments while supporting the internal and employee-facing narrative that keeps the company aligned.

This is a producing role, not a strategy-only or oversight-focused position. The successful candidate will draft, edit, coordinate, and publish communications and content while providing reliable support to PR efforts when needed. Success requires sharp writing, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and dependable day-to-day execution.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Support Candescent’s U.S. media relations efforts in partnership with the Director, Content & PR and the company’s PR agency, including story development, pitch coordination, and earned media opportunities.

  • Help build strong relationships with business, technology, fintech, and cybersecurity media to support consistent, high-quality coverage.

  • Prepare spokespeople for media engagements by developing messaging, briefing materials, Q&A documents, and supporting content to ensure consistent and confident external communications.

  • Translate PR strategy into effective U.S. execution, supporting measurable outcomes such as brand awareness, executive visibility, share of voice, and message pull-through.

  • Develop and maintain a U.S. PR calendar aligned to product launches, campaigns, events, and key market moments.

  • Serve as a day-to-day liaison with the PR agency, supporting briefing, planning, pitching, deliverables, timelines, and performance tracking.

  • Partner with the social media manager to amplify earned media, integrate PR into broader campaigns, and maximize cross-channel visibility.

  • Support executive thought leadership programs, including bylines, media commentary, podcasts, speaking opportunities, and messaging on topics such as AI, agentic AI, verified trust, fraud, and digital identity.

  • Support data-driven storytelling by helping translate insights into compelling narratives, content, and campaigns in partnership with agency and cross-functional teams.

  • Provide PR and internal communications content for client and consultant newsletters at the direction of the Director, Content & PR, partnering with stakeholders across product, partnerships, consulting, and other teams.

  • Support recurring internal communications and employee-facing storytelling to help keep employees informed, connected, and aligned.

  • Support executive town halls and internal presentations by developing messaging, talking points, and supporting materials.

  • Track, analyze, and report on U.S. PR performance, using insights to refine execution and support reputation management.

  • Assist with reputation management, issues response, and incident-related communications as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • 3–5 years of PR or communications experience, including U.S. media relations experience in B2B, fintech, SaaS, or agency environments.

  • Proven experience securing coverage in business, technology, fintech, cybersecurity, or related media.

  • Experience working with and briefing PR agencies.

  • Strong news judgment with the ability to identify, develop, and pitch compelling stories.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong understanding of AP style.

  • Experience preparing executives, spokespeople, or subject matter experts for media engagements.

  • Ability to develop messaging, briefing documents, Q&A materials, bylines, commentary, and communications content.

  • Experience supporting executive thought leadership programs, including media commentary, podcasts, speaking opportunities, and contributed content.

  • Comfort supporting reputation management, issues response, or incident communications.

  • Familiarity with PR measurement, reporting, share-of-voice tools, and the ability to turn data into actionable insights.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.

  • Comfortable operating independently in a lean, fast-paced environment with a high level of ownership and follow-through.

Preferred Distinctions

  • Experience in fintech, digital banking, financial services, cybersecurity, or enterprise technology.

  • Experience supporting communications in a high-growth, private equity-backed, or transformation-focused environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to connect external PR efforts with internal communications, executive visibility, and broader brand campaigns.

  • Experience partnering with product, marketing, social media, consulting, partnerships, or executive teams on cross-functional communications.

  • Strong understanding of how to translate complex technology, AI, fraud, digital identity, and trust-related topics into clear and compelling stories.

What Success Looks Like

  • Candescent earns consistent, high-quality coverage in priority U.S. business, technology, fintech, and cybersecurity media.

  • Executive visibility and share of voice grow in key topics such as AI, fraud, verified trust, and digital identity.

  • The PR agency is well briefed, aligned to priorities, and delivering against agreed plans and timelines.

  • Communications and content are drafted, coordinated, approved, and published on time.

  • Spokespeople are prepared, confident, and aligned on messaging before media engagements.

  • Internal communications are clear, timely, and help employees stay informed and connected.

  • Reputation risks are identified quickly and supported with timely, thoughtful communications.
