Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the Oracle E-Business Suite migration workstream within a large-scale enterprise ERP transformation program. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented project leader with demonstrated experience managing complex work breakdown structures containing 5,000 or more activities and closely tracking milestone dependencies across multiple functional workstreams.
The Project Manager will own the detailed workstream schedule, maintain alignment with the integrated master program plan, and serve as the primary point of accountability for scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and delivery governance.
The ideal candidate will bring strong familiarity with Oracle EBS, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project and/or Planview, and experience coordinating large cross-functional programs involving Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Human Resources, data migration, testing, cutover, and business readiness teams.
This is a project planning and delivery leadership role. It is not a technical project management, solution architecture, or hands-on configuration position. Experience supporting biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other regulated life sciences organizations is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Integrated Planning and Schedule Management
- Build, maintain, and manage complex work breakdown structures containing 5,000 or more activities.
- Own the detailed Oracle EBS migration workstream schedule and ensure alignment with the enterprise ERP transformation master plan.
- Maintain accurate milestones, predecessors, successors, constraints, and cross-workstream dependencies in Microsoft Project and/or Planview.
- Perform critical-path analysis and identify schedule conflicts, dependency risks, resource constraints, and potential milestone delays.
- Track baseline, forecast, and actual dates and provide clear analysis of schedule variances.
- Develop recovery plans and corrective actions when milestones or critical-path activities are at risk.
- Reconcile the workstream schedule with the integrated master schedule and validate that all dates and dependencies remain aligned.
- Conduct detailed schedule reviews with workstream leads, functional teams, system integrators, and program leadership.
- Validate schedule updates for completeness, accuracy, and logical sequencing before incorporating them into program-level reporting.
- Maintain a disciplined planning cadence across design, data migration, testing, cutover, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization activities.
EBS Migration Workstream Ownership
- Own and drive all project lifecycle phases for the Oracle EBS migration workstream.
- Manage the full scope of migration activities, including fit-gap analysis, legacy data extraction, configuration mapping, conversion, testing, cutover planning, deployment, and stabilization.
- Ensure workstream activities are completed according to approved scope, schedule, quality standards, and governance requirements.
- Coordinate resource assignments and confirm that workstream owners understand deliverables, dates, dependencies, and escalation expectations.
- Enforce PMO governance standards, stage-gate requirements, RAID management, and audit-ready documentation.
- Manage scope changes through formal impact assessment, approval, documentation, and communication processes.
Cross-Functional Delivery Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Oracle EBS migration activities, status, risks, issues, dependencies, and escalations.
- Coordinate across Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Human Resources, data, testing, integration, cutover, and business readiness teams.
- Partner with Oracle functional consultants, data migration teams, integration teams, and business stakeholders to ensure deliverables remain aligned with the approved project plan.
- Coordinate with adjacent workstream Project Managers to manage integration points and cross-workstream dependencies.
- Facilitate working sessions, including requirements workshops, design reviews, data governance meetings, schedule reviews, testing readiness sessions, and cutover assessments.
- Hold workstream owners accountable for deliverables, milestone commitments, status updates, and risk mitigation actions.
- Support coordination with external system integrators and consulting partners, including deliverable tracking and statement-of-work compliance.
Data Migration, Testing, and Cutover Coordination
- Track activities related to legacy data extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation, and loading.
- Coordinate the development and review of data mapping documents, conversion plans, test scripts, and migration schedules.
- Oversee planning and execution for System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing.
- Partner with business and testing teams to establish entrance criteria, exit criteria, test readiness, defect resolution expectations, and sign-off requirements.
- Coordinate cutover planning, rehearsal activities, go-live readiness assessments, and step-by-step cutover execution.
- Ensure testing, conversion, and cutover milestones are fully integrated into the workstream schedule.
- Track post-go-live stabilization activities, issue resolution, and transition to operational support.
Risk, Issue, Dependency, and Change Management
- Maintain and actively manage the RAID log for the Oracle EBS migration workstream.
- Identify risks and issues related to legacy data quality, module mapping, resource availability, testing readiness, integration dependencies, and cutover timing.
- Develop mitigation strategies, contingency plans, and recovery actions before risks affect schedule, cost, or quality.
- Escalate critical risks and issues according to program governance protocols.
- Ensure dependencies are documented with clear owners, required dates, impacts, and resolution plans.
- Manage scope change requests, including documentation, schedule impact analysis, resource impact assessment, approvals, and communication.
Stakeholder Communication and Reporting
- Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly workstream status reports.
- Contribute accurate schedule, milestone, risk, issue, and dependency information to program-level dashboards.
- Translate complex schedule and delivery information into clear, actionable updates for senior stakeholders.
- Proactively communicate blockers, milestone risks, dependency conflicts, and recommended mitigation strategies.
- Provide leadership with clear visibility into critical-path activities, schedule variance, upcoming decisions, and recovery actions.
- Build trusted relationships across business owners, functional leads, program leadership, system integrators, and executive sponsors.
Continuous Improvement and Program Support
- Conduct structured lessons-learned reviews at key migration milestones.
- Contribute findings and recommendations to broader program retrospectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve scheduling, dependency management, governance, and delivery practices.
- Support enhancements to PMO methodologies based on ERP migration experience.
- Promote consistent planning and reporting practices across workstreams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- 7 or more years of IT project management experience, including delivery of large-scale enterprise systems programs.
- 3 or more years of direct experience managing Oracle ERP implementation, upgrade, or migration programs.
- Experience supporting at least one full-lifecycle Oracle EBS implementation, upgrade, or migration project.
- Demonstrated experience managing work breakdown structures or integrated project schedules containing 5,000 or more activities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, Planview, or comparable enterprise scheduling tools.
- Strong experience managing complex milestone dependencies across multiple ERP workstreams.
- Ability to perform critical-path analysis, schedule variance analysis, dependency analysis, and recovery planning.
- Strong familiarity with Oracle EBS terminology, business processes, modules, and migration activities.
- Experience managing project lifecycle activities from planning through post-go-live stabilization.
- Demonstrated experience with RAID management, stage-gate governance, change control, and audit-ready documentation.
- Proficiency with Jira or comparable project tracking tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain schedule accuracy across a large, rapidly changing program.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, and executive reporting capabilities.
