Position Summary:
Our growing legal team is seeking a collaborative, commercial-minded Staff Contract Analyst with advanced English and French language skills to be applied in a legal and commercial contracting context to support Illumina stakeholders and customers in the U.S. and Canada. The ideal candidate will have experience in redlining and negotiating legal documents in both English and French, and the ability to effectively manage their workload and adapt in a fast-paced, growth-oriented company.
Responsibilities:
- Review, redline, and negotiate commercial contracts, customer terms and conditions, proposals, subcontracts, equipment leases, rental agreements, and related legal documents, including both Illumina and customer-provided templates.
- Evaluate draft contracts against approved legal and business guidelines to identify and mitigate legal, commercial, compliance, privacy, and operational risks; flag incomplete or non-compliant terms and drive open items to resolution.
- Coordinate with Legal, Sales, Customer Care, Finance, Accounts Receivable, Revenue Recognition, Marketing, and other internal stakeholders to ensure contract processes support business needs, company policies, and applicable legal requirements.
- Provide lead support to Sales Representatives and internal stakeholders on contract workflow questions, bid proposals, customer documentation requests, and issue resolution throughout the sales contracting process.
- Compare new agreements to existing agreements for consistency and accuracy, maintain current contract terms, pricing approval processes, forms, and related resources, and ensure documentation is properly stored for team reference.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor contract-related programs, reports, audits, and compliance processes; publish relevant updates and reports to Finance, Marketing, Sales, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Illumina’s sales and contracting processes and provide education, guidance, and training to Contracts team members and cross-functional partners.
- Assist with the selection, design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of software systems and legal tools used to process contract requests, manage compliance and privacy reporting, and support Legal department operations.
- Represent the Commercial Legal team on company-wide projects affecting the sales contracting process, organize and document stakeholder meetings, and support continuous process improvements.
- Where appropriate, mentor Contract Analysts and provide guidance on department processes, procedures, contract review standards, and stakeholder communications.
- Ability to effectively and authoritatively support sales territories in both the U.S. and Canada as requested.
Requirements:
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or 6 years related experience and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
- Advanced English and French language skills, including the ability to review, draft, and negotiate legal and commercial documents in both English and French, and to provide clear legal-context support to Illumina stakeholders and customers in the U.S. and Canada.
- Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing a variety of commercial contracts and legal documents with limited supervision, including solicitations/bids/tenders for Canadian government entities.
- Strong understanding of the contract lifecycle, including contract evaluation, negotiation, approval, tracking, reporting, and close-out.
- Ability to quickly understand business objectives, manage multiple contract matters simultaneously, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with changing priorities.
- Strong analytical, drafting, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with keen attention to detail.
- A strong service orientation, positive can-do attitude, and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and a broad range of personalities and cultures.
- Ability to mentor others, provide process guidance, and serve as a Contracts subject matter resource to internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and contract management, reporting, and legal operations tools, including applicable AI experience (Copilot or other).

The estimated base salary range for the Staff Contract Analyst (Remote) role based in Canada is CAD 89,200 - 133,800.

Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly.

The range reflects long‑term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. No AI will be used to screen, assess, or select applicants. This role is a replacement requisition for a vacated position.
