Brown & Brown is seeking an Agency Development Manager to join our growing team!

The Agency Development Manager (ADM) is responsible for expanding and strengthening the agency distribution channel by driving qualified quote submissions, increasing written premium, and growing policies in force. This role serves as a strategic business partner to agency partners, providing training, consultation, and ongoing support to help agencies maximize performance and achieve growth objectives.

The ADM builds and maintains strong agency relationships, delivers guidance on products, systems, and underwriting guidelines, and identifies opportunities to improve agency engagement and profitability. Working collaboratively across multiple departments, the ADM helps ensure products and programs remain competitive while supporting the successful acquisition and retention of business. This position is ideal for a self-motivated professional who excels at relationship building, problem-solving, and driving results through agency partnerships.

This role is eligible for a target annual commission up to 20% of base salary.

Candidates must reside within or near the assigned territory, which includes New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia.

How You Will Contribute: 

  • Develop and nurture relationships with new and existing assigned agents to drive qualified risk selection and foster long-term partnerships.

  • Generate new premium growth through interaction with new and existing agencies (phone calls, emails, face-to-face visits, etc.).

  • Identify and develop new agency opportunities through prospecting.

  • Deliver training and ongoing support to new and existing agencies, ensuring clarity on systems, products, and underwriting guidelines.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on our product offerings and core systems and stay informed on industry trends and competitive landscape.

  • Provide account management support for agencies and maintain accurate records of agency interactions using Salesforce.

  • Collaborate with the marketing department to ensure consistent and effective agency communication.

  • Proactively monitor key performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement or additional training.

  • Work proactively with product management to communicate competitive information and convey necessary product modifications or new opportunities.

  • Meet or exceed individual or team goals consistently.

  • This is a remote position and will require frequent travel for in-person agency visits.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Active P&C insurance license (2-20)

Skills & Experience to be Successful:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of Property & Casualty industry experience.

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently for in-person agency visits within the assigned territory, including overnight stays, as needed.

  • Ability to navigate challenges with a positive attitude and adapt to changing priorities or market conditions.

  • Consistently represents the company with integrity and professionalism in all interactions.

  • Must be team-oriented and able to meet team deadlines.

  • Must be results-oriented and thrive in high volume environments.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software such as Salesforce.

  • Ability to build relationships both internally and externally and influence stakeholders.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.

  • This position requires routine travel which may require the teammate to drive their own vehicle or a rental vehicle. Acceptable results of a Motor Vehicle Report at the time of hire and periodically thereafter, and maintenance of minimum acceptable insurance coverages are a requirement of this position.

  • 5+ years P&C experience (preferred)

  • Previous Personal Lines Excess & Surplus experience a plus. (preferred)

  • Previous account management or outside field sales experience. (preferred)

  • Strong familiarity with Salesforce CRM. (preferred)

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with customers at all levels. (preferred)

  • Polished presentation skills to conduct virtual and in-person product training. (preferred)

  • Comfortable talking to new people daily via in-person visits, telephone, or virtual meetings. (preferred)

  • Bilingual proficiency with Spanish. (preferred)

Pay Range

$70,000.00 - $100,000.00 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
