Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Field Service Technical Specialist who will be responsible for supporting customers, installation partners, and internal teams with technical expertise in vehicle telematics, installation standards, and new product field validation. If you love hands-on technical work, building relationships, and driving quality in the field — and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

As a Field Service Technical Specialist, your key area of responsibility will be delivering technical support and quality assurance across Geotab's installation and field services ecosystem. You will be responsible for providing design input to the New Product team, conducting site visits to support telemetry projects and pilot programs, performing installation audits, and ensuring installation partners meet Geotab's quality standards. You will also need to create and maintain installer certification programs, develop technical documentation and installation guides, and support customers and resellers with technical specifications and data requirements. When required, you will perform live installations as part of demonstrations or training engagements and produce photo and video content for installation guides in collaboration with the Learning & Development team.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly organized, detail-oriented problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, field-based environment. You will need to work closely with Product and R&D personnel, resellers, customers, and third-party installation partners — building trust, communicating technical requirements clearly, and driving continuous improvement in the processes and systems you touch. In addition, the successful candidate will have a genuine entrepreneurial mindset, comfort working in a flat organization, and the adaptability to manage shifting priorities across multiple projects simultaneously.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Provide design support for the New Product team, analyzing user's requirements, defining product specifications, field and simulation testing.

  • Support customers with technical details, technical specifications and data requirements based on Geotab product offerings.

  • Support sales with technical applications based on requirements from Resellers / Customers.

  • Support Installation partners and their installers real time when necessary.

  • Provide specific technical installation requirements and wiring schematics.

  • Stay relevant to new advances in technology and be flexible to adapt to the growing market demands.

  • Be innovative through researching and presenting new ideas.

  • Create and Implement Installer Certification Tests.

  • Update modules with latest Geotab Product information.

  • Participate in installer performance evaluation and audits.

  • Ensure company installation quality standards are communicated and adhered to in the field.

  • Update all installation documents and product guides with latest information.

  • Work with installers to ensure they understand and use the Field Services department price list for installation services.

  • When required, perform installations in the field as a part of an installation demonstration, installation training or Pilot projects.

  • Create Installation videos and guides by taking photo sets and video content in conjunction with our L&D Teams.

  • Send out feedback surveys, support Field Services invoicing processes, and update the ticketing system.

  • Continually seek and suggest methods to improve both internal and external systems and processes within the organization, especially as related to installations and onsite services.

  • Source and qualify new installation partners.

  • Resolve installer issues and concerns.

  • Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.

What you'll bring to this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree or equivalent experience required; specialization in electronics, industrial management, or a related field highly valued.

  • 3–5 years of previous experience working as an installation field service specialist in Telematics, the Automotive industry, or equivalent.

  • Experience with OBD and CAN communications, SAE vehicle standards, and serial data interfaces.

  • Experience with hardware/software integration, database systems, and data set analysis required.
  • Knowledge of database systems and analyzing data sets.

  • Experience managing 3rd party contractor relationships and outstanding customer service skills and ability to quickly develop rapport with customers and partners.

  • Proficiency in automotive electronics, with in-depth knowledge of components, testing equipment, and hand tools.

  • Knowledge of communications systems & networks (Cellular, GPS, serial data).

  • Technical competence using software programs, including Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

  • Frequent travel required — ability to travel up to 60% of the time; passport required and ability to travel internationally.

If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role! Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
