Build internal AI tools that help development teams move faster, safer, and smarter. 

ABC Fitness is investing in internal AI-powered platforms that enable our engineering teams to build, ship, understand, and operate software more effectively. This role is focused on creating the software, systems, and workflows that make AI a practical force multiplier for development teams across the company. 

As a Principal AI Engineer, you will build and evolve internal software platforms that use AI to support complex development workflows, improve visibility into software changes, and help engineering teams deliver software with greater speed, quality, and confidence. These tools help development teams understand what has changed across applications, automate complex engineering processes, and safely incorporate AI into day-to-day software development. 

This is a software engineering role focused on AI enablement. You will not simply experiment with prompts or build one-off AI features. You will build production-grade internal platforms that help development teams function more effectively. 

What You’ll Do 

Build AI-powered internal development tools 

Design and ship internal software platforms that help engineering teams understand, automate, and improve the software development lifecycle. 

Enable development teams through platform capabilities 

Create reusable tools, APIs, workflows, and interfaces that allow teams to adopt AI-assisted development patterns without needing to build everything from scratch. 

Improve software change intelligence 

Build systems that connect events from CI/CD, deployments, approvals, security scans, quality gates, source control, work tracking systems, and service dependency data into a coherent view of software change across the organization. 

These systems should help teams answer questions such as: What version is in production? What shipped last week? Who approved this deploy? What changed? What depends on this service? 

Build durable AI workflow infrastructure 

Design and implement infrastructure for long-running AI-assisted workflows, including planning, execution, validation, branching, human-in-the-loop pauses, tool use, checkpoints, and durable state. 

These capabilities will support complex development workflows such as code review, change analysis, release support, planning, remediation, and other multi-step engineering processes. 

Build for reliability, observability, and scale 

Ensure internal AI platforms are production-ready, observable, cost-aware, and resilient, with strong tracing, state management, failure handling, and operational visibility. 

Create the paved path for AI-enabled engineering 

Define patterns, abstractions, and best practices that make it easier for development teams to safely and consistently use AI in their day-to-day workflows. 

Partner across engineering, platform, security, and product 

Work closely with development teams to understand their workflows, identify leverage points, and build tools that remove friction from software delivery. 

What This Is Not 

This is not a research role focused on training models from scratch. 

This is not a role building isolated AI features for a single product line. 

This is not prompt experimentation without ownership of production systems. 

This is not a purely advisory or architecture-only role. 

This is a hands-on software engineering role focused on building AI-enabled internal tools for development teams. 

What You Bring 

Strong software engineering fundamentals 

You have deep experience building production-grade backend systems, APIs, workflow engines, internal platforms, developer tools, or distributed systems. 

Experience building tools for engineers 

You understand developer workflows and have built systems that improve engineering velocity, reliability, delivery quality, or operational awareness. 

AI systems experience 

You have built or integrated LLM-powered systems, agentic workflows, retrieval patterns, tool-use flows, or AI-assisted automation in production or near-production environments. 

Agentic Software Delivery Patterns 

Experience understanding and applying emerging agentic software delivery patterns, including graph-based coding-agent workflows, non-interactive coding agents, and software-factory-style approaches. 

Platform mindset 

You think in terms of reusable capabilities, paved paths, shared abstractions, durable systems, and long-term adoption across engineering teams. 

Workflow and orchestration expertise 

You understand how to manage state, execution, retries, branching, validation, and human gates in complex multi-step systems. 

Production mindset 

You design for reliability, observability, security, cost, latency, and maintainability from the beginning. 

Bias toward enablement 

You care about helping other engineers move faster and do better work. You build tools that are practical, usable, and adopted. 

Bonus Points 

Experience building internal developer platforms, CI/CD systems, deployment tooling, workflow engines, service catalogs, or software delivery intelligence platforms. 

Experience with agentic workflow systems, graph-based execution, durable orchestration, or human-in-the-loop automation. 

Experience with LLM observability, evaluation, prompt/version tracking, model routing, or cost controls. 

Experience integrating with source control, work tracking systems, CI/CD platforms, deployment systems, security scanners, or service dependency graphs. 

Experience with OpenTelemetry, platform portals, internal control planes, or developer experience tooling.

Development teams move faster 

Teams can use internal AI tools to plan, review, validate, ship, and understand changes with less manual effort and fewer handoffs. 

Software change becomes easier to understand 

Teams have clear, reliable answers to questions about what shipped, when it shipped, who approved it, what changed, and what depends on it. 

AI-assisted workflows become durable and trustworthy 

Long-running AI workflows can execute reliably, pause for humans, resume safely, branch when needed, and provide clear visibility into what happened. 

Internal tools become the default path 

AI-enabled internal platform capabilities become trusted parts of how engineering teams build, ship, and operate software. 

AI improves engineering leverage 

AI becomes embedded in the way development teams work, not as isolated experiments, but as reliable internal software that improves delivery, quality, and operational confidence.

Compensation for this role will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and market considerations. The anticipated compensation range for this position is -

zł430,000 - zł460,000 PLN- annually. In addition to base compensation, eligible employees may be offered other forms of compensation, such as bonuses, commissions, equity, or other incentive programs, where applicable. Compensation and benefits may vary by location and are subject to applicable legal, business, and market requirements.
