YOU

The Senior Software Product Manager fills the product owner role in an Agile product development environment and will gather feature requests, schedule releases and coordinate sprints. To be successful in this role, the Senior Software Product Manager will be a product expert and need to be able to identify user needs and work with cross-functional teams while crafting the product vision.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Partner with the Business (40%)

Partner with key stakeholders and business leaders to understand their business strategy, gather detailed product requirements, and develop meaningful value-add product enhancements (stories) to drive the business forward.

Product Planning (20%)

Plan and prioritize the product backlog on a regular basis to ensure work focuses on items with maximum value, ensuring there are always an adequate number of stories in the product backlog that meet the definition of Ready prior to planning meetings with development teams.

Guide Collaborative Product Efforts (20%)

Hold regular meetings including but not limited to the following. Product Backlog Refinement meetings with the development team prior to sprint planning to improve clarity of requirements of user stories. Sprint Planning meetings with the development team to plan sprint workload, including the collaboration of development tasks and tests. Sprint Review meetings to share sprint goals and review completed work with product stakeholders. Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of release and sprint goals. Work with development team and technical writing team to write and manage release notes of completed features.

Leadership (10%)

Coach and mentor junior employees to provide best in class solutions for the product being created to best align their contribution towards the products impact on the overall organizational success by using effective leadership techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems. Empower employees to take responsibility for their career and performance. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback. Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and the organization.

Share the Vision (10%)

Work closely with Product Management to understand product strategy and vision enabling you to provide the agile development team with clear vision, direction and understanding of the product backlog.

This job operates in a professional office environment where standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. are frequently used.

TRAVEL

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 5% of the time.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is eligible for remote work anywhere in the United States.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$93,400 - $126,100 / year
