What you will do: 

Working under the framework of Johnson Controls Continuous Improvement, will drive continuous improvement capability across the procurement organization, applying lean methodologies will assess current state performance, identify gaps, visualize and establish a plan to get to the future state to optimize supplier performance, monitor progress and share/acquire best-in-class ideas and systems. Defines, designs and implements process improvement as part of the Johnson Controls Business System (JCBS); ensures integration and alignment vertically and horizontally across organization, bridging procurement and cross functional workflows.  

 

How you will do it: 

 

  • Use our Business System to drive process and results in the Procurement / Sourcing organization.  

  • Help improve supplier LTs, MOQs to drive velocity in our supply chain and improve DIOH  - using material pull methods 

  • Help enable growth in our Data Center Business by setting process to enable upfront engagement of Procurement in NPI process 

  • Help resolve organizational role around materials management in the factory – working with leadership to drive simplification, accountability and eliminate shortages 

  • Identify gaps in business metrics and then works with all levels in establishing and executing a strategy for improving them; specifically identify approval bottlenecks and non-value-added activities in procurement process 

  • Assess the current state of Procurement Operations; define end-to-end value stream mapping across source-to-pay;  

  • Develop Future State vision for and drive and monitor the implementation plan; streamlining sourcing, contracting, supplier management, and legal processes into a unified Source-to-Contract model and reducing cycle time across sourcing, contracting and onboarding = what a Best in Class procurement organization process should be. 

  • Define and execute strategic sourcing and supplier partnerships (TCO-driven) 

  • Drive pull-based supply and improved demand alignment (in partnership with Materials team) 

  • Ensure processes embed compliance, trade compliance, and governance directly into workflows and systems, in partnership with Legal. 

  • Facilitate supplier–JCI Kaizen events to improve quality, delivery, and communication. Using kaizen funnel tracking and reporting systems, will prepare detailed plans, drive project performance, and assure timely completion and achievement of transformational and continuous improvement projects. 

  • Collaborate with leadership to develop a procurement CI Roadmap, driving breakthrough or Best-in-class performance that balances resources between internal plant efficiency and external customer-focused effectiveness projects through 1. Just Do It improvements, 2. Kaizens, 3. Workshops. 

  • Assists Process Owners in identifying barriers to project success and helps to drive changes when needed 

  • Define and document standard work for all core procurement processes globally 

  • Identifies and brings forward to Champion new project opportunities 

  • Is accountable to deliver the plant annual goals. 

  • Adheres to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards. 

  • All other tasks as assigned. 

 

 

What we look for 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Quality, Engineering, or a related field. 

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in Continuous Improvement, Strategic Sourcing, Lean Manufacturing or Supply Chain Management; focus on vendor negotiations and supplier development. 

  • Significant experience leading business transformation projects - track record of delivering tangible, recognized business & customer results. 

  • Deep expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and Toyota Production System (TPS) methodologies. 

  • Proven success in leading large-scale Lean transformations across multi-site operations. 

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L and capital projects. 

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.

SALARY RANGE: $155,000 - $235,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance.  This position includes a competitive benefits package.
