Job description

Environmental Scientist- Senior Environmental Permitter

Job Summary

The Environmental and Cultural Resources Team is looking for an experienced environmental scientist to assist with permitting projects with federal and state agencies. The applicant must have strong writing skills, exceptional attention to detail, and should be familiar with researching construction permitting requirements for different project types. Successful applicants will have previous experience filing local, state and federal categorial exclusions, environmental assessments, or environmental impact statements and communicating with agency officials. At a senior level, the successful applicant will complete projects independently, manage deadlines efficiently, and delegate to environmental technicians. This is a remote position unless based near one of the Vantage Point offices.

  • Some supervision of projects and staff

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the following fields (or related field): environmental resource management; ecology; geology; biology; forestry; sustainability; natural resource management; planning; archeology; history
  • Experience with federal or state permitting for environmental resources required
  • Valid US Driver’s license, clean driving record
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Ability to be in the field/travel (less than 10% of the job)
