Job description

Location: Montreal, Full-Time Onsite

The opportunity:

Valnet is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Support Specialist to join our team in Montréal, QC. In this hands-on, on-site role, you will serve as a key point of contact for the day-to-day technology needs of our employees—ensuring that every person at Valnet has the tools they need to do their best work. From provisioning laptops for new hires to recovering equipment from departing employees, you will play a central role in keeping our IT operations organized, efficient, and reliable.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of employee equipment, including provisioning, configuring, shipping, and recovering laptops and peripherals for onboarding and offboarding. 
  • Coordinate shipping and handling logistics across locations, including packaging, tracking, and maintaining accurate asset records. 
  • Monitor and document remote assets, ensuring equipment issued to distributed and work-from-home employees is tracked and recoverable. 
  • Provide general IT support to end users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a timely and professional manner. 
  • Handle desk moves and workspace setups, relocating and configuring equipment to ensure correct and consistent installations. 
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory and asset-tracking records across the full equipment fleet. 
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Some experience in an IT support or helpdesk role, or equivalent education and relevant certifications. 
  • Foundational troubleshooting skills across common hardware platforms and operating systems. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage equipment and logistics simultaneously. 
  • Comfortable with the physical demands of the role, including handling, lifting, and moving equipment as needed. 
  • Clear communication skills and a service-oriented attitude toward colleagues at all levels. 
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize a varied workload, and manage competing tasks effectively. 
  • 2–3 years of experience in a helpdesk or IT support environment is a strong asset. 
  • Audiovisual experience, including familiarity with sound systems and AV equipment setup, is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license, experience with shipping and handling, and certifications such as CompTIA A+ are considered advantageous.
