Location
This role can operate remotely within the US or Canada OR be based out of one of our major US or Canada office locations - Charlottesville, VA, Durham, NC, Columbus, OH, Boston, MA, Toronto, ON, or Vancouver, BC
Our Associate Principals in Business Development embody a consultative sales mentality by pinpointing client pain points and bringing custom solutions to the table proactively. Associate Principals will ensure that all aspects of account work, from strategic development to execution, exceed client expectations. While working with Business Development and Marketing leadership on a combination of product, brand, market, and sales strategies, the Associate Principals will coordinate new leads, field new business opportunities, and win new business.
This role will join the team as part of several evolving industry verticals at TELUS Digital (Retail & Consumer, Technology, Financial Services, Healthcare & Lifescience, Travel & Hospitality, Telco & Media, and Manufacturing & Energy), focused on building partnerships and solutions for prospective clients. Specific focus areas will include both the expansion of TELUS Digital's current footprint and entry into emerging sectors within each industry.
TELUS Digital Solutions' Business Development team encompasses a range of skilled professionals who drive innovation and growth on the front lines of client engagement. As a team, we rally around three distinct areas in the client journey map: Prospecting, Pursuit, and Expansion. A few responsibilities across our team include: identifying new relationships and opportunities, nurturing ongoing relationships with client partners, contracting agreements, writing proposals, pitching our services to prospective clients, and more.
The primary KPI for this role will be revenue growth (measured in both new logos and growth of existing accounts) alongside client satisfaction scores and team health on managed accounts.
Identify target accounts to optimize services and communicate TELUS Digital's capabilities to clients
Competently articulate product features to implement technology solutions successfully
You’ll collaborate with our Solutions Architects and Product teams to craft executive-level proposals, pitches, and SOWs for prospective and existing clients
Cultivate and extend existing C-level relationships with current clients
You’ll team up with our delivery leadership to respond to opportunities and team-sell through RFP responses or other types of sales cycles
Advise TELUS Digital’s internal teams on industry and vendor trends to remain well-positioned to assist our clients
You must have the ability to travel up to 25% for client visits, pitches, and conferences
Client & Business Development Experience
Manager-level or equivalent experience within a management consulting or professional services firm (e.g., Deloitte, Accenture), including responsibility for leading project teams and managing client relationships
Sales and business development experience, including preparing RFPs, pitching solutions, and constructing SOWs
Technical & Digital Acumen
Demonstrated digital and technical acumen; broad awareness across the technology stack, with deep expertise in commercial and consultative skills
Experience serving as the primary client contact on technical implementation projects, partnering with delivery teams to navigate common project challenges (timeline shifts, scope changes, budget concerns, stakeholder management)
Conversational fluency across the modern digital and data landscape: frontend and mobile, content platforms, data and analytics, cloud, integration, and AI
Ability to identify which layer a client's problem sits in, speak credibly to key tradeoffs, and connect technical decisions to business value
Solutioning & Collaboration
Ability to frame client problems internally and partner with technical and strategic experts to co-create tailored solutions
Skilled at scoping opportunities, building trust with clients, and knowing when to bring in solution architects or technical specialists
Consultative Mindset & Communication
Listens closely to underlying client challenges (reducing cost, growing engagement, launching a new platform) and asks the right questions to uncover the real business objective
Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing, to build confidence in the proposed approach and influence senior stakeholders
Intellectually curious, highly motivated, and quick to develop new capabilities
An engineering or computer science degree/background
Master’s Degree in Business Administration
