Job description

About Wunderkind:

Wunderkind is a performance marketing solution that uses AI and data to help brands acquire and retain customers through one-to-one, personalized messages across websites, email, text, and ads, guaranteeing a lift in revenue. Founded in 2010, Our goal is to scale a brand’s ability to create and grow customer relationships through websites, email, text, and ads. We believe individuals should have the freedom to choose the kind of internet they want. An internet that fosters genuine relationships with brands. An internet that treats humans like real people instead of “web traffic.” We also believe in empowering brands to treat their customers as individuals, satisfying their unique needs with tailored experiences and thoughtful communication. By expertly personalizing, automating, and scaling beautiful one-to-one experiences, Wunderkind helps brands acquire new customers at scale and keep them loyal for life.

About the Role

Wunderkind is seeking a Senior Manager of Accounting to serve as a cornerstone of the Finance & Accounting organization — someone who brings serious technical depth, a builder’s mindset, and genuine curiosity about how emerging technologies can transform how accounting work gets done. This role owns complex accounting areas including revenue recognition, leases, and internal-use software, and partnering closely across Finance, Legal, and the business.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong technical foundation who enjoys working across a variety of accounting topics, digging into complex issues, and improving how work gets done in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage the more complex corporate accounting areas, such as internal-use-software capitalization, hosting, leases, intercompany, and intangible assets
  • Support accounting for certain revenue streams, such as core-subscription, text messaging and advertising revenue
  • Perform and review key account reconciliations, rollforwards, and accounting analyses across high-impact accounts
  • Research accounting guidance (e.g., ASC 350-40, ASC 606, ASC 842,) and update technical memos to support new facts and circumstances
  • Perform monthly variance and fluctuation analyses; translate accounting activity into clear explanations of business drivers
  • Actively seek out and implement AI tools and automation to eliminate manual effort — without compromising internal controls or accuracy
  • Redesign spreadsheet-based workflows for speed and scalability; build and maintain process documentation suitable for audit and SOX-equivalent review
  • Support interim and year-end audit processes; maintain audit-ready documentation across all owned areas at all times
  • Assist in managing 1–2 accounting professionals and review their work; provide technical coaching, work product review, and ongoing development feedback

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 preferred) or a mix of public and industry experience
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), IUS (ASC 350-40), and leases (ASC 842)
  • Experience preparing reconciliations, rollforwards, and financial analyses
  • Experience supporting process improvements or automation initiatives
  • Understanding of internal controls and audit processes
  • Collaborate effectively with accounting team members with varying skill levels
  • Advanced Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA preferred, not required
  • Experience with NetSuite or comparable ERP system
  • Experience in SaaS or start-up company environments
  • Exposure to international accounting or multi-entity structures

The base salary range for this role is $140,000.00 to $160,000.00. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each specific candidate; including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, applicable certifications, and geographic work location. This may vary depending on living location and market rate.
