Role Overview

The VP of Payments will provide strategic Product leadership for Billtrust's Payments organization while mentoring and developing the existing Product team. This leader will serve as a strategic partner to Tricia, helping mature the Product organization while driving the Payments roadmap and commercial strategy.

The role combines executive Product leadership with deep Payments expertise and strong coaching capabilities.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate combines deep Payments knowledge with Product leadership experience and can confidently engage customers in conversations around payment workflows, treasury, AR, AP, and financial operations.

Company background is flexible. Candidates from banks, payment processors, fintech companies, or payment networks are all acceptable if they possess strong Product leadership capabilities.

  • Candidates lacking either Payments or Product Management experience.
  • Executives accustomed to large organizations who struggle operating within lean teams.
  • Leaders unwilling to be hands-on when necessary.
  • Candidates unable to coach and develop junior Product talent.

Compensation

Compensation will be aligned with the approved executive budget and discussed individually with qualified candidates.

Recruiting Strategy

Focus sourcing efforts on Product leaders from Payments, FinTech, Banking, Payment Networks, Treasury, or AR software organizations. Prioritize candidates with executive presence, strong mentoring experience, and the ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution. Experience leading lean, fast-paced Product organizations is preferred over experience managing large teams.
