JOB DESCRIPTION: 

 

The selected candidate will join an existing dynamic team of research and administrative leaders working together towards fulfilling our mission of transforming child health through high-impact research. General areas of responsibility and engagement for team members include:

 

Partnering with Research Center faculty Directors to manage strategic plans for center vision, scope, and growth

  • The portfolio of work for this job posting includes program management for the Children’s Center for Childhood Infections and Vaccines.
  • Meet regularly with Center leader to ensure the Center’s research activities are aligned with Center goals and Emory and Children’s strategic initiatives
  • Manage the planning, logistics, and implementation of Center visitors/seminars and other related events on a weekly, monthly, or annual schedule
  • Monitor Center budget expenditures
  • Manage pilot grant processes and track pilot progress once awarded
  • Track Center metrics including publications, funding, other research activities, and pilot return on investment
  • Partner with the Center Director to prepare the Center’s annual progress report, including preparing the presentation of report findings for the Pediatric Institute’s Research Advisory Council.
  • Manage content and updates for Center webpages (pedsresearch.org) including Center membership/profiles and related research team and lab pages
  • Write and edit Center communications including the creation and distribution of newsletters, social media content, reports, and other written material, as needed
  • Manage special groups within the Center, e.g., research in progress, monthly research investigator meetings, special operations steering committees
  • Coordinate recruitment activities for research faculty related to Centers following standardized operating procedures

 Member/contributor to Research Operations Team:

  • Participate in weekly Research Operations team meetings
  • Utilize the team’s standard operating procedures (SOPs), and contribute to the regular revision and creation of new SOPs as needed
  • Participate in and contribute to group events, including conferences and symposia
  • May partner with Emory and Children’s foundations on philanthropic efforts related to Center’s mission
  • May provide project management and operational oversight for pediatric cores

Additional information and areas of contribution

  • The selected candidate may also contribute to other research activities. Possible tasks include:
  • Ordering supplies and managing inventory
  • Coordinating and managing financial data
  • Providing administrative support on an as needed basis

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in business or related field. Five years of professional experience in a related field such as business administration, research, or information systems management.
  • Requires previous supervisory and program/project management experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous research exposure or experience is highly prioritized
  • Exceptional organizational and written / oral communication skills as well as high enthusiasm to promote the child health research efforts of faculty and trainees are desired.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
