About the Role

We are Maersk, and we are seeking a Head of Procurement, Home-Based Delivery Services (HBDS) to lead procurement strategy, supplier performance, and capacity planning for one of the most critical and rapidly growing areas of our North American ground transportation business.

This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for managing a supplier network that supports home delivery operations across North America. The successful candidate will balance three critical priorities: capacity, cost, and service quality.

As a member of the HBDS leadership team, you will develop sourcing strategies, strengthen procurement governance, drive digital transformation, optimize supplier performance, and ensure scalable network capacity to support continued business growth. You will also lead a distributed team while serving as a key partner to Operations, Network, Commercial, Product, and Finance leaders.

This role is ideal for a strategic procurement leader who thrives in complex transportation environments and enjoys building scalable solutions that deliver long-term value.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute the procurement strategy for Home-Based Delivery Services across North America
  • Develop long-term sourcing strategies that balance service quality, capacity requirements, and cost optimization
  • Serve as a key member of the HBDS leadership team, contributing to business planning and strategic decision-making
  • Lead procurement governance, supplier segmentation, and contracting standards across the HBDS network

Strategic Sourcing & Capacity Management

  • Lead sourcing initiatives, contract negotiations, RFPs, and supplier selection activities
  • Develop scalable carrier and supplier networks capable of supporting growth and seasonal peaks
  • Evaluate market opportunities and sourcing alternatives to ensure capacity readiness across all operating regions
  • Partner with stakeholders to support investment decisions and long-term network optimization strategies

Supplier Performance & Service Excellence

  • Establish and manage supplier performance programs focused on service quality, delivery performance, and capacity utilization
  • Monitor supplier compliance with contractual obligations and service level agreements
  • Drive corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives with supplier partners
  • Ensure operational readiness during peak periods and customer growth events

Digitalization & Analytics

  • Drive digital procurement initiatives and adoption of sourcing technologies, transportation platforms, and contract management tools
  • Improve supplier visibility, spend management, and procurement reporting capabilities
  • Utilize data and analytics to optimize supplier performance, sourcing decisions, and cost efficiency
  • Support implementation and utilization of tools such as SAP, Oracle, transportation procurement solutions, and supplier management platforms

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop a distributed procurement and supplier management team
  • Provide clear direction, performance leadership, coaching, and accountability across the organization
  • Foster a culture focused on execution, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
  • Drive standardization and alignment across teams, suppliers, and operating regions

Who We Are Looking For

  • Significant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, transportation, logistics, supply chain, or carrier management leadership roles
  • Proven track record managing large transportation or logistics spend portfolios
  • Experience leading complex sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and contract management programs
  • Strong understanding of carrier procurement, transportation networks, and capacity planning
  • Demonstrated ability to drive measurable cost savings, service improvements, and supplier performance outcomes
  • Experience leading distributed teams and managing performance across multiple locations
  • Strong executive presence with ability to influence senior stakeholders and business leaders
  • Advanced analytical and financial acumen with experience using data to drive sourcing decisions
  • Experience with procurement and transportation technology platforms such as SAP, Oracle, and supplier management systems
  • Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
  • Experience within home delivery, last-mile, transportation, logistics, trucking, or freight environments is highly preferred

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Travel: As required to support supplier relationships, business initiatives, and operational needs
  • Salary: $150K - $170K + 15% Bonus
