SUMMARY

The Underwriter I is responsible for supporting the Personal Property Underwriters, the Underwriting staff, and all departments that interact with Underwriting.  The Underwriter I is responsible for assisting with the processing of New Business, Endorsements, Suspense and Renewals. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following, (other duties may be assigned):

  • Adhere to Arrowhead General Insurance Agency Service Standards
  • Serve as the first line of contact in addressing questions and concerns from customers through phone calls and correspondence.
  • Resolve any complaints from customers in a professional manner and refer those who need additional help to the appropriate contact person or department.
  • Maintain a positive market image of Arrowhead General Insurance Agency and all of its customers through professional, courteous and helpful customer service responses.
  • Process new business underwriting, endorsements, and/or renewals as assigned.
  • Interpret individual program guidelines regarding acceptability, rating and procedures.
  • Maintain minimum production and quality standards in all areas.
  • Report rating and data errors to Supervisor as well as agency trends regarding acceptability.
  • Carrier knowledge – understand and adhere to carrier guidelines including systems & processes related.
  • Request and obtain renewal information as needed
  • Review, analyze, underwrite, & endorse renewals
  • Send Non-Renewal Notification when applicable
  • Complete cancel/rewrite/effective date changes in accordance with carrier guidelines and company procedures
  • Review and process Broker of Record Letters in a timely manner.
  • Meet deadlines set forth by supervisors/management
  • Meet phone login requirements.
  • Successfully pass internal and carrier file audit reviews
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed

CERTIFICATES LICENSES AND REGISTRATION

  • California P&C License would be a plus, but not required for the position
  • Completion of the Brown & Brown University School of Service Personal Lines Courses. (Best Practice Skills, Customer Service Skills and Business Skills)
  • INS classes would be a plus, but not required for the position

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum one year in a customer service role. Prior insurance experience in a support position preffered.
  • Computer navigating skills – must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Policy and Accounting systems, Internet Explorer, and vendor specific computer programs
  • Strong Communications skills.  Must be able to correspond and communicate with producers in a courteous and professional manner to help resolve issues
  • Reasoning ability – solve practical problems without strict instructions
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks

Pay Range

$23.00 - $26.00 Hourly

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
