Job description

Overview:

About the Role & Team

IDC is growing its highly successful events business across the North American market, and we're looking for a strategic, data-driven Audience Development Head to lead the charge. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in B2B audience growth, list building, and event marketing — especially within the IT executive landscape.

You'll be responsible for building and growing a qualified, opt-in audience database of IT decision-makers across the U.S. and Canada. Your work will directly support in-person and virtual custom events for clients, larger in-person regional CIO Summits in key cities, and national virtual event webinars and programs. If you're passionate about data, digital engagement, building community, and driving real business results through targeted outreach — this is your role.

What You’ll Do

Audience Development Strategy

  • Build and segment a robust North America database of qualified IT executives using Apollo.io, ZoomInfo, lead-gen tools, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and list vendors.
  • Develop and manage opt-in acquisition programs across webinars, newsletters, and event campaigns.
  • Own and refine the North America audience development playbook based on geographic, persona, and industry targeting.
  • Lead audience acquisition for both single-sponsor custom events and multi-sponsor syndicated programs, in-person and virtual.

Data & Technology Management

  • Ensure data integrity by managing bounce tracking, preference centers, and unsubscribe compliance with national and global standards.
  • Collaborate with IT on CRM/ESP integrations (Marketo, Adestra, Cvent, etc.).
  • Track audience engagement metrics and implement progressive profiling and UTM tagging.

Campaign Execution & Event Promotion

  • Build event registration pages in Cvent
  • Manage event-specific lists and outreach, ensuring registration goals are met across each event type in your portfolio.
  • Execute always-on email and content campaigns to grow opt-ins.
  • Collaborate with marketing on newsletter content and promotion calendars.
  • Work with analysts and speakers to co-promote events and grow the funnel via LinkedIn and social media.
  • Maintain a calendar of audience availability for single-sponsor event matching, working closely with the Sales department.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales to align audience development strategy to sponsorship KPIs.
  • Collaborate with event operations, client services, IT, and marketing teams to ensure campaign readiness and compliance.
  • Engage with IDC analysts and influencers for webinar programming and social amplification.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in audience development, marketing operations, or demand generation — preferably in the B2B tech or events sector.
  • Deep understanding of the North America IT landscape and executive buyer personas.
  • Experience working with senior and C-suite executives.
  • Proficient with Apollo.io or similar list-building tools.
  • Strong experience with ESPs such as Marketo, Adestra, Cvent, or comparable systems.
  • Experience sourcing, cleansing, and growing opt-in databases in compliance with CAN-SPAM and GDPR.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in fast-paced, matrixed environments.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across marketing, IT, sales, and external partners

Bonus

  • Experience working in a global marketing team.
  • Spanish, Portuguese, or French language skills considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with CIO communities or IT leadership councils.
  • Past success with LinkedIn lead-gen ads or speaker-driven referral campaigns.
