The focus of the National Business Development Manager is to drive profitable revenue growth, expand market presence, and lead the refinement and execution of sales and marketing initiatives specific to the Drains & Siteworks product portfolio in Canada. This position works closely with Canadian Area Sales Managers (ASMs), master distributors, specifying engineers, key customers, and internal cross-functional teams to ensure customer satisfaction and sustainable business growth for the Drains & Siteworks brands.
Responsibilities
Drive Growth & Market Expansion
- Identify, develop, and commercialize new business opportunities across target segments, applications, and customers aligned to the Drains & Siteworks value proposition, with a focus on profitable revenue growth.
- Expand share within existing accounts while supporting and executing a national specification strategy to increase product adoption across the commercial and institutional plumbing markets.
- Conduct ongoing analysis of market conditions, competitors, and pricing dynamics to identify growth opportunities and optimize positioning aligned with manufacturing and supply capabilities.
- Support and participate in tradeshows, industry events, and specification seminars to strengthen brand visibility and engagement.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Drains & Siteworks products, owning the engineering/specification channel and driving technical acceptance through consultative engagement, education, and product advocacy.
Training & Continuous Improvement
- Design and deliver targeted training programs for internal teams, distributors, engineers, contractors, and customers in partnership with ASMs and product specialists.
- Capture and translate customer and market feedback into actionable insights to inform product development, competitive positioning, and service enhancements.
- Own and lead the national rollout of new products, ensuring strong go-to-market execution, cross-functional alignment, and rapid adoption across channels.
Commercial Excellence
- Partner with operations, engineering, finance, and product management to align on pricing strategies, demand planning, forecasts, and inventory management to ensure reliable service and customer satisfaction.
- Own and lead the national rollout of new products, ensuring strong go-to-market execution, cross-functional alignment, and rapid adoption across channels.
- Collaborate with ASMs, rep agencies, and master distributors to develop and execute market growth plans targeting wholesalers, engineers, contractors, and key specification influencers.
Experience and Skill Required
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma, preferably in marketing, business management, or a technical field (equivalent experience and/or education will be considered)
- 7+ years of proven sales/business development or technical sales experience within the plumbing, mechanical, or waterworks industries, with strong knowledge of drainage and interceptor products preferred.
- Engineering or skilled trades background considered an asset.
- Demonstrated success in developing strategic customer relationships and managing market development initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to a range of audiences including contractors, engineers, distributors, and senior leadership.
- Strong business acumen, analytical capability, and strategic thinking skills.
- Experience in building and executing territory business plans, marketing initiatives, and product launch programs.
- Self-motivated, collaborative team player with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Willing to travel a minimum of 50% of the time to support business growth initiatives, customer engagement, and industry events. Periodic travel to the United States is also required for corporate meetings, training and customer events.
