Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Performance Test Engineer Consultant with approximately 5 years of experience to support performance testing initiatives across multiple teams. This role requires a hands-on expert who can not only execute tests but also advise on performance strategy, prioritize what matters most, and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and willing to contribute beyond performance testing when needed.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute performance test scripts using Apache JMeter for the following:
    • Distributed e-commerce platform (Adobe Commerce)
    • Customer dashboard (React + .NET, Azure-hosted)
    • Multiple third-party and internal integrations
    • Mix of public-facing and authenticated experiences
  • Analyze application performance and identify bottlenecks across APIs, UI, and backend systems
  • Collaborate closely with developers, tech leads, and cross-functional teams
  • Provide expert recommendations on performance testing strategy, including:
    • What to test
    • When to test
    • Risk-based prioritization 
  • Interpret test results and present clear insights and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Support performance tuning efforts and validation of fixes
  • Maintain and improve existing test frameworks and scripts
  • Ensure secure handling of sensitive test data and credentials
  • Assist with other testing activities (functional, regression, etc.) during downtime

Required Qualifications

  • ~5 years of experience in performance testing
  • Strong hands-on experience with Apache JMeter
  • Experience using open-source performance tools (e.g., Lighthouse)
  • Experience performance testing APIs and web applications
  • Ability to work with multiple teams and technical stakeholders simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence decisions
  • Experience identifying performance risks and recommending mitigation strategies

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Playwright (UI automation)
  • Ability to support cross-functional QA efforts when needed

Security & Best Practices Expectations

  • Experience with secure management of credentials, ensuring:
    • No sensitive data stored in GitHub repositories
    • No exposure of secrets in JMeter or BlazeMeter
  • Familiarity with secure approaches such as:
    • Environment variables
    • Secret management tools (e.g., Vault, Azure Key Vault)
    • Encrypted configuration handling
