Role Overview

Integrella is seeking a skilled Healthcare IT Engineer to design, develop, and support enterprise healthcare information systems built on the InterSystems technology stack. This role centres on InterSystems TrakCare HIS, Caché/MUMPS, and Caché ObjectScript development, with a focus on building reliable, well-integrated, and high-performing clinical and revenue-cycle solutions for hospital clients.

You will develop and maintain Caché ObjectScript solutions, configure and troubleshoot integration interfaces using the Ensemble integration engine, build SQL-based reporting and automation, and support end-to-end deployments and go-lives across multiple hospital units, working closely with both technical teams and clinical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, customise, and maintain healthcare applications on the InterSystems TrakCare platform using Caché/MUMPS and Caché ObjectScript
  • Design Caché classes encapsulating business logic, data access layers, and reusable components to improve modularity and maintainability
  • Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot interfaces using the Ensemble integration engine to ensure reliable data exchange between clinical and administrative systems
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs, including payment gateway and third-party healthcare and insurance integrations
  • Build and optimise SQL-based data extraction, reporting, and reconciliation scripts to support operational and MIS reporting
  • Automate recurring reports and scheduled tasks using Caché ObjectScript and the MUMPS Task Manager (e.g. scheduled email and MIS delivery)
  • Optimise SQL and Caché/MUMPS queries and stored procedures to improve data retrieval speed and overall system performance
  • Perform code reviews and debugging to ensure adherence to coding standards, maintainability, and performance best practices
  • Investigate and resolve integration issues, data-mapping discrepancies, and interface failures to improve data integrity and reduce downtime
  • Support go-live, UAT, and post-implementation stabilisation across multiple hospital units, including configuration testing and end-user technical guidance
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective software solutions

Technical Skills Required

  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare IT / health information systems development and support
  • Hands-on expertise with InterSystems Caché, Caché ObjectScript, and MUMPS development
  • Proven experience developing and supporting the InterSystems TrakCare HIS platform
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, reporting, tuning, and validation
  • Experience with the Ensemble integration engine for interface configuration and data exchange
  • Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs (e.g. payment gateway and third-party healthcare/insurance APIs)
  • Experience automating reports and scheduled tasks using Caché ObjectScript and the MUMPS Task Manager
  • Working knowledge of Core Java
  • Experience with code review, debugging, and resolving software defects across release cycles
  • Familiarity with hospital functional areas such as Billing, Registration, EMR, Laboratory, and reporting/MIS
  • Experience supporting deployments, go-lives, and post-implementation support across multiple hospital units

Requirements

Technical Skills – Advantageous

  • Experience with HL7 v2.x message types (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, MDM) – routing, transformation, and Ensemble integration
  • Exposure to InterSystems HealthShare
  • Experience with TrakCare reporting tools, CSP (Caché Server Pages), and LogiReport
  • Familiarity with Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), billing, claims, and credit-control workflows
  • Exposure to additional healthcare platforms such as Midas (Symplr)
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability integrations such as ABHA, ClaimBook, and insurance/payer APIs

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven ability to develop, support, and troubleshoot healthcare applications on the InterSystems stack
  • Strong understanding of Caché/MUMPS development, integration, and SQL reporting principles
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and distributed delivery teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong ownership, problem-solving mindset, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team
