Job description

We are currently hiring for a Manager, Compliance to join our team. This role will be a Remote role but must be based within the United States. The Manager, compliance will provide continuing support to the Chief Compliance Officer to ensure adherence by all Team Members on healthcare compliance and reinforcement of the Company’s compliance and training program in conformity with the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for an effective compliance program.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of federal and state laws and regulations, industry codes of conduct with industry developments, and best practices that are relevant to or may impact the structure or operation of the company’s Compliance Program

  • Support the Chief Compliance Officer in oversight of comprehensive and ancillary projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, specifically including: draft and update policies and other compliance-related materials, and develop, implement, and manage effective compliance training and education initiatives for all company team members and third-parties who conduct business on the company’s behalf. Develop, implement, and train Team Members on protocols and procedures to ensure compliant practices. Support and enhance open lines of communication for reporting any observed or suspected compliance issues or concerns, including maintaining the compliance hotline. Assist in developing, leading, and managing a risk-based healthcare compliance monitoring and auditing programs to detect, respond to, and remediate compliance violations. Assist in developing, leading, and managing a risk-based privacy monitoring and auditing programs to detect, respond to, and remediate compliance violations. Assist in developing, implementing, and enforcing compliance standards through well-publicized disciplinary guidelines. Manage and/or lead compliance and privacy investigations, including root cause analyses and corrective action plans. Perform other compliance-related duties and projects (including tracking and monitoring licenses, leases, etc.) to assist legal and business units.

  • Draft weekly Compliance messaging to Team Members 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience 

  • A minimum of 7 years of compliance and privacy work experience in a healthcare environment with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.

  • Healthcare Compliance, Health Information Management, or Legal field

  • Significant substantive experience working with federal and state healthcare or comparable regulations  

  • Experience and demonstrated ability to write and interpret legal documents and policies, as well as understand applicable laws and regulations

  • Experience and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and exercise excellent judgment

  • Experience and demonstrated ability to work with all Team Members – from Akumin’s Executive Leadership Team to Staff – as well as with healthcare providers, patients, etc.

  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills

  • Collegial and team-oriented, while also able and willing to handle projects solo

  • Travel is required between 1 - 10% of time

Preferred:

  • Law Degree (JD)

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or comparable certification
