Job description

The Offshore Electrical & Instrument Lead Technician will oversee the safe and efficient operation of electrical and instrument systems aboard the offshore platform. The role involves leading a team of technicians, ensuring that all electrical and instrumentation systems are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance. The Lead Technician will also provide troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair services for complex electrical and instrumentation equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and provide technical guidance to the offshore electrical and instrumentation team.
  • Ensure the efficient execution of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on electrical and instrumentation systems. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Perform regular inspections of electrical and instrumentation equipment, systems, and processes, identifying potential issues and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure all electrical and instrument work complies with offshore safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures. Promote a safety-first culture.
  • Adhere to all offshore safety and environmental policies, ensuring a strong commitment to the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Participate in safety drills, risk assessments, and hazard analysis to maintain awareness of potential risks and mitigate them.
  • Report safety hazards, near-miss incidents, and equipment failures in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Lead and support the preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for offshore electrical and instrumentation systems, including switchgear, transformers, control panels, valves, and instrumentation devices.
  • Manage and supervise electrical and instrument projects or upgrades on the offshore platform, including managing timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Provide technical assistance and expertise during operations, start-ups, and shutdowns. Support commissioning and decommissioning processes.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, test results, and corrective actions. Prepare and submit reports as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance practices, troubleshooting procedures, and safety protocols.

Requirement

  • Diploma or Relevant certifications in Electrical & Instrumentation.
  • Possess Certified A4 Chargemen (if necessary)
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance in offshore or related industries (Oil & Gas, Power Generation, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems (power distribution, transformers, switchgear, etc.).
  • Proficient in maintaining instrumentation (flow meters, pressure transmitters, control valves, etc.).
  • Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, and control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in both electrical and instrumentation.
  • Proven experience working in an offshore environment is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
  • Knowledge and experience with offshore health and safety standards and best practices (e.g., HSE policies, risk assessments).
  • Offshore working conditions require good physical fitness and the ability to work in challenging, remote environments.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Advanced knowledge of industry-specific codes and standards (e.g., IECEx, ATEX).
