Developer-customers are key to Twilio’s success.  The Developer Interfaces team builds many of the key tools that enable developers to use the Twilio Communications and Engagement Platform to integrate communications services directly into their applications via simple cloud APIs with global reach and on-demand huge scale. 

The team operates in many different coding languages simultaneously - Java, C#, Python, Go, PHP, Node.js, Ruby - building SDKs so you can leverage Twilio’s platform for your needs quickly and efficiently, and in the Open Source community where our products are released regularly.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, high-availability cloud infrastructure for Twilio’s microservices.
  • Operate and maintain highly available services handling billions of weekly requests.
  • Manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, ensuring operational best practices.
  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and ensure uptime of services through on-call rotations and incident response.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in agile ceremonies to drive technical excellence.
  • Continuously improve cloud-based services, focusing on reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Research and improve the design and implementation of Twilio’s API infrastructure regularly.

*Required:

  • 2-4 years of experience in backend engineering, with proficiency in one or more object oriented programming languages, preferably Python or Java.
  • Thorough understanding of Open API specifications and API standards
  • Hands-on experience in the generation of SDKs and CLI tools.
  • Good experience with building and managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Buildkite), optimizing deployments, release process and maintaining high reliability through SLOs.
  • Exposure to SLO tracking tools such as Datadog, and log management solutions like AWS CloudWatch, Athena, Grafana.
  • Previous exposure to service-oriented architectures, microservices, or REST APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with making changes in production systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an agile, fast-paced team, understanding the full software development lifecycle.
  • Strong decision-making skills, balancing between the pros and cons of various cloud technologies, with a focus on making practical, scalable choices.  

Desired:

  • Experience of building to Public SDKs for Customers
  • Experience in Security such as WAF management, threat assessment.
  • Experience building self service platform tools to improve developer experience and improve launch speed for internal teams.
  • Experience in Terraform
  • Good to have: Knowledge of FERN or similar tools for API specification and code generation.

Location

This role will be remote, and based in India (only in Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, Delhi).

Travel
