Summary:
Razor is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to support a long term, 100% Remote federal government contract. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data solutions in a cloud-based environment. This position focuses on database management, ETL/ELT pipeline development, data modeling, and performance optimization, with an emphasis on leveraging Azure data services and modern data stack tools to support fraud detection, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.
Education & Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field; OR
- 10 years of experience in the same fields
- Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, or GCP) preferred
Clearance Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be eligible for Public Trust/background investigation
- 100% REMOTE
Responsibilities:
- Develop new datasets to support fraud identification, audits, and investigations
- Optimize the performance of common database queries
- Create and implement data models to improve database efficiency and usability
- Propose and implement architectural improvements to reduce cloud costs
- Develop, optimize, and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines
- Monitor pipelines to ensure performance and regular data updates
- Collaborate with Cloud Architects to develop new methods of accessing and transporting data
- Assist in the development of dashboards and reports for data visualization and storytelling
- Support ingestion, transformation, and configuration of data in cloud-based data lakes or warehouses
- Analyze and structure unstructured and semi-structured data from SQL and data lake environments
- Partner with data architecture teams to author SOPs for Azure asset creation, maintenance, and monitoring
Qualifications:
- Minimum five (5) years of hands-on experience in:
- Maintaining SQL databases and performing advanced SQL and T-SQL operations
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining ETL/ELT processes in cloud-based analytics environments
- Minimum three (3) years of hands-on experience in:
- Working with Azure Synapse and Azure Machine Learning within a modern data stack
- Data manipulation using Python with Pandas (required); experience with PySpark or Polars preferred
- Experience developing reusable and modular code
Desired Skills:
- Experience implementing pipelines and infrastructure using code-first approaches (Python SDK, CLI, REST APIs, or Infrastructure as Code tools)
- Experience with source control and CI/CD workflows
- Familiarity with AI coding assistants and large language model (LLM) integration patterns ​
