Job description

Advanced Agrilytics is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will contribute directly to building and scaling our platform while helping guide technical direction across the organization. You’ll work across systems, collaborate closely with engineers and data scientists, and play a key role in mentoring others and elevating how we build.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role suited for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working across the stack, and contributing to both near-term delivery and long-term system design.

Advanced Agrilytics is an agronomy services company focused on unlocking the potential of every acre through direct-to-farm agronomic guidance, unbiased spatial research and sub-acre environment understanding, delivering on the promise of precision agriculture.

How you will help us grow:

  • End-to-End Engineering: Contribute across the full lifecycle of our systems—from design and implementation to deployment and ongoing operation. Work across backend services, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure to deliver reliable, scalable solutions. Write, test, and review high-quality code. Stay deeply involved in implementation, while helping guide how we approach complex technical challenges.
  • Architecture & Technical Direction: Partner with senior engineers to shape system design and evolve our architecture. Contribute to decisions that improve performance, scalability, and maintainability over time.
  • Mentorship & Team Growth: Support and mentor engineers across experience levels. Share knowledge, provide thoughtful feedback, and help raise the overall engineering bar.
  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with engineering, data science, and product teams to deliver solutions that align with both technical and business goals.
  • Problem Solving at Scale: Take ownership of complex problems across the codebase and systems. Identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions that have a lasting impact.
  • Continuous Improvement: Help improve engineering practices, code quality, and development processes. Contribute to a culture of learning and thoughtful iteration.
  • Exploration & Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies, including modern AI-assisted and agentic development approaches, and thoughtfully apply them to improve how we build and operate software.

Experience you bring:

Required

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of delivering and maintaining production systems.
  • Strong experience with Node.js and React, along with deep knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Experience with spatial data and GIS technologies (e.g., mapping, geospatial analysis, location-based services).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, microservices, and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Active daily use of agentic coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, or similar)
  • Proven ability to work in collaborative, team-driven environments and partner across functions.
  • Passionate about your craft with the desire to share knowledge and strengthen your team.

Preferred

  • Proficiency in other programming languages, such as Python.
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs or AI-powered features in production systems

What our culture brings:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Performance based bonus program
  • Competitive benefits package
  • 401(k) Plan with company match
  • Flexible Time Off
  • Collaborative, autonomous work culture where each person makes a difference
