Job Summary

We are seeking an Intermediate Bookkeeper with a minimum of 3 years' experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm to join our client's growing remote team.

This role is ideal for a bookkeeper who has managed multiple client portfolios and is confident handling end-to-end bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll, BAS preparation, and month-end reporting. The successful candidate will have strong experience using Xero, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end bookkeeping for a portfolio of Australian SME clients.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity and prepare journal entries.
  • Prepare BAS and IAS working papers for accountant review and lodgement.
  • Process payroll, superannuation, PAYG withholding, and leave reconciliations.
  • Review and maintain accurate financial records in accordance with Australian accounting standards.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end bookkeeping processes, including workpaper preparation.
  • Prepare management reports and financial reports for clients and accountants.
  • Liaise directly with clients to request information, resolve bookkeeping queries, and provide bookkeeping support.
  • Work closely with accountants to ensure client files are accurate, complete, and compliant.
  • Maintain organised digital records using cloud-based accounting systems and document management platforms.



Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' bookkeeping experience within an Australian public practice accounting firm.
  • Proven experience managing bookkeeping for multiple Australian business clients.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian bookkeeping principles, GST, BAS, IAS, payroll, and general accounting processes.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Xero.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
