Senior Data Engineer – Palantir Foundry
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and support enterprise data solutions within the Palantir Foundry platform. This role will focus on building scalable data pipelines, developing governed data models, and delivering high-quality data products that enable analytics, automation, and AI initiatives across the organization. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering fundamentals with experience designing production-grade data solutions that improve business operations and support data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines within Palantir Foundry, from source ingestion through production-ready datasets.
- Build reusable data transformation frameworks that support enterprise reporting, analytics, AI, and operational workflows.
- Optimize data processing for performance, scalability, and reliability across large and complex datasets.
Data Modeling & Ontology Development
- Develop and maintain business-focused data models and Foundry ontologies that accurately represent enterprise processes and relationships.
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into scalable, governed data structures.
- Promote standardized data models that encourage consistency and reuse across multiple teams and applications.
Data Quality & Platform Reliability
- Implement data validation, monitoring, and testing processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of enterprise data products.
- Support production environments by troubleshooting data pipeline issues and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure data solutions comply with enterprise standards for governance, lineage, security, and access management.
Engineering Excellence
- Follow software engineering best practices including version control, automated testing, documentation, and deployment processes.
- Contribute reusable frameworks, coding standards, and technical best practices that improve overall engineering efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership and collaborate with fellow engineers on architecture, design, and implementation decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with analytics, AI, product, and business teams to deliver data solutions that support enterprise initiatives.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Balance speed of delivery with long-term scalability, maintainability, and governance objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Four or more years of experience designing and supporting enterprise data engineering solutions in production environments.
- Hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry or comparable enterprise data platforms.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL; experience with Spark or PySpark is highly desirable.
- Experience building scalable data pipelines, transformation frameworks, and enterprise data products.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, governance, data quality, and enterprise data architecture principles.
- Demonstrated ability to convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and implementing ontology-driven data models within Palantir Foundry.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data ecosystems and mission-critical production environments.
- Familiarity with cloud-native data platforms, modern data engineering technologies, and distributed computing frameworks.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, conducting code reviews, or providing technical leadership on enterprise data initiatives.
