Job description

Every Fix Makes a Difference

Are you a hands-on problem solver with a knack for both mechanical and electrical systems? Do you enjoy traveling, working directly with customers, and making things work better? As a Field Service Technician III at Global Finishing Solutions (GFS), you’ll be the face of a premium brand trusted across the refinishing industry. You won’t just install equipment; you’ll help people succeed in their business every day. You’ll install, troubleshoot, and maintain our industry-leading paint booths and finishing systems, while training customers and ensuring they get the most out of their investment. Every day is different, every challenge is unique, and your work truly matters.

What Success looks Like

  • Put your technical skills to work by troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and upgrading complex mechanical and electrical equipment. You'll also program and commission VFDs, PLCs, and HMIs to keep our customers' systems running at peak performance.
  • Turn blueprints, electrical schematics, and P&IDs into reality by guiding contractors through the installation and wiring of control systems, including temperature, humidity, combustible gas, and other critical sensors.
  • Solve the tough problems. Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify equipment issues, determine root causes, and get customers back up and running with confidence.
  • Share your expertise by leading classroom and hands-on training for customers while mentoring fellow Field Service Technicians to build knowledge and strengthen the team.
  • Make great equipment even better by implementing field improvements to controls, electrical systems, air replacement equipment, and other mechanical components. Partner with our Engineering team to turn real-world feedback into product enhancements.

Qualifications That Shine

  • An Associate's degree in a technical field and 6–8 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting industrial equipment. (Equivalent experience may be substituted at a rate of two years of experience for each year of education.)
  • A strong understanding of electrical controls, PLCs, mechanical systems, and industrial equipment.
  • A natural ability to troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems and solve problems in the field with confidence.
  • Experience making field modifications to electrical controls and mechanical systems to improve equipment performance.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills—you enjoy building relationships and helping customers succeed.
  • The ability to clearly document service work and complete accurate reports in a timely manner.
  • A passion for sharing knowledge by coaching and training junior technicians in the field.
  • Experience safely operating forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other standard business software.
  • Fall Protection and Electrical Safety training or certification (preferred).
  • Experience working in confined spaces and following all applicable safety procedures.
