Job Title: Specialist I, Scheduling, Patient Access

Position Purpose

Scheduling Specialist supports customer relations, physician relations, patient care and hospital business services by performing quality functions for scheduling and registering services for multiple areas throughout the hospital. The Scheduling Specialist is a highly skilled Patient Access colleague responsible for timely and accurate appointment scheduling with expertise in scheduling protocols, registration, insurance requirements/verification, identification of accurate patient responsibility with notification to the patient for Trinity Health. 

As a “Specialist I, Scheduling, Patient Access” you will:

• Responsible for pre-registration, scheduling, electronically verifying insurance eligibility & accurately identifying & collecting patient financial responsibility.
• Handles complex scheduled events, including high dollar testing, associated studies & those with study specific instructions & communicates effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow & customer service.
• Begins the overall patient experience & initiate the billing process for any services provided by the hospital.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) to Five (5) years experience in area of expertise such as scheduling, financial clearance, or patient access.
• National certification in HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.
• Must be proficient in the use of Patient Registration/Patient Accounting systems & related software systems.

FT/PT Benefit eligible Roles:

**0.5 FTE (20 hours weekly) up to 1.0 FTE (40 hours weekly)

Pay Range: $18.11 - $25.35

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
