Job description

ITCON Services is seeking a Senior Data Warehouse Specialist / ETL Developer to support USDA FPAC Data Engineering and Management requirements, including data integration, data warehousing, and enterprise analytics initiatives. The selected candidate will design, build, and maintain complex data pipelines that extract data from multiple source systems, transform data according to business rules, and load it into enterprise data warehouse and data mart environments. The role operates within FPAC's enterprise data ecosystem and directly supports data-driven decision-making across mission programs.

This role is accountable for developing scalable ETL/ELT workflows, optimizing SQL performance, and ensuring data accuracy, quality, and reliability across large-scale data integration processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain complex ETL/ELT data pipelines that extract, transform, and load data from multiple source systems into enterprise data warehouses and data marts.

  • Optimize SQL queries and ETL processes to improve performance, efficiency, and execution reliability.
  • Ensure data accuracy, quality, and reliability across all data integration processes and data pipelines.
  • Support full systems development lifecycle (SDLC) activities, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Execute data migration and transformation activities, including converting data formats and integrating legacy systems into modern data platforms.
  • Develop and maintain automated data integration processes using ETL/ELT patterns and emerging approaches such as real-time or near real-time integration when required.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members and enforce best practices across data engineering activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data architects, analysts, and QA personnel, to align data solutions with business requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Experience designing and developing ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale data integration and data warehouse environments.
  • Strong SQL expertise, including query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Experience with enterprise data integration tools (e.g., IBM DataStage or similar ETL platforms).
  • Experience supporting data warehousing and data mart development efforts in complex environments.
  • Knowledge of data integration patterns, including ETL, ELT, and data migration across platforms.
  • Experience ensuring data quality, validation, and reliability within production data pipelines.
  • Ability to support full SDLC activities, including testing, deployment, and operational maintenance.
  • Eligibility for Public Trust clearance.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in federal data environments (e.g., USDA FPAC or similar agencies).
  • Experience working with large-scale data sets and complex transformation logic.
  • Familiarity with real-time or near real-time data integration approaches and data federation techniques.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data warehouse modernization or migration initiatives.
  • Ability to work in Agile or hybrid SDLC environments supporting federal programs.
