Unleash your talent and redefine what’s possible.

Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented Bridge Drafter to join our team full-time to support one of the many large transformative transportation projects that we have either won, are currently pursuing, or will pursue across the nation.

Some of the larger projects are located in the states of:

  • Tennessee
  • Georgia
  • North Carolina
  • Virginia
  • Indiana

In this role, you will help deliver the design for projects that have a construction value greater than $1 billion, and in turn assist in enhancing the mobility, safety, and reliability for communities who live along and travel through these critical corridors. This position is remote, and the selected candidate will have flexibility in work location while still supporting virtual collaboration with Parsons teams.

Parsons is one of the premier design-build firms in the country with over 16,000 employees worldwide and nearly $7 Billion in revenue. Most recently, we have been the engineer of record or have assisted on some of the most challenging projects in the country, including:

  • the Gordie Howe Bridge near Detroit, MI
  • the Clear Path projects in Indianapolis, IN
  • Brent Spence project in Cincinnati, OH
  • the SR 400 project in Atlanta, GA

These high-visibility Design-Build and Public Private Partnership "P3" projects and many others are career defining opportunities and offer complex, challenging work for our entire professional staff and new hires, who work seamlessly together from offices across the country.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Developing plans, using CAD software, for fundamental bridge elements like framing plans, abutments, piers, barriers, bridge decks and standard approach slabs, including but not limited to:
    • Organizing drawing elements into official project sheet templates, ensuring proper scale, borders, and title block information
    • Placing annotations, dimensions, callouts, and leader lines precisely to make drawings clean and legible
  • Updating existing drawing sets accurately by incorporating redline corrections provided by engineers or senior detailers
  • Compute straightforward material volumes and weights, such as cubic yards of concrete or total linear feet of standard bridge railing
  • Perform basic geometry to verify horizontal and vertical clearances, standard spacing, and simple linear dimensions on drafting assignments

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelors and 2+ years of related work experience OR Associate's Degree 2-year technical degree (or equivalent) and 4+ years of related work experience

  • Solid operational knowledge of 2D drafting tools within industry-standard software, primarily Bentley MicroStation (preferred) or Autodesk AutoCAD

  • Understanding how to attach, scale, and manage external references (XREFs or reference files)

  • Ability to navigate pre-configured CAD workspaces, active design files, sheet views, and model spaces

  • Ability to accurately apply text scaling, dimension styles, callouts, and leader lines appropriate for varying sheet print sizes

  • Skill in reading and understanding structural engineering sketches, plans, sections, profiles, and cross-sections

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Knowledge of reinforcing steel layout rules, concrete cover requirements, bar lap splice/development lengths, and complex bending schedules

  • Ability to perform accurate structural calculations for concrete volumes, weights of steel, and surface areas of coatings

  • Familiarity with individual state Department of Transportation (DOT) CAD standards, cell libraries, and delivery protocols

Security Clearance Requirement:
